I went for a consultation today
They were so, so kind, and they had even filed patents, and they explained things while showing me various photos, so I thought, ah, I should get it done here.
I also really liked that the cartilage used when increasing the height is ground into powder and inserted, and that, from the standpoint of pursuing implant-free rhinoplasty, it can also be placed around the glabella area.
But I’m currently thinking about the surgical method for correcting a deviated septum.
Every other hospital said the same thing: that the amount of septal cartilage is small, so it can’t be used as material, but in order to fundamentally correct the deviated septum, part of the curved septal cartilage needs to be removed. (Either way, the amount of septal cartilage is very small, so there wouldn’t be much cartilage to remove, but anyway, their position is that the curved cartilage needs to be removed.)
But the director at this hospital said that even if the septal cartilage is curved, first, they would use the nasal bone to immediately straighten the septal deviation, and second, they would use rib cartilage to build a support structure, so they would not remove the septal cartilage itself at all. (It seems like it’s the director’s own surgical method.)
They said that even if it’s curved, by tying the curved cartilage and nasal bone together as two structures, they can make it straight, so there’s no need to cut out the curved septal cartilage. (I think they avoid it because cutting out septal cartilage weakens the nasal structure.)
If it can be resolved by firmly stabilizing the column without removing the septal cartilage, I think that would be ideal.
But all the other hospitals unanimously say that the curved septal cartilage needs to be cut out, while only this hospital says that if it’s straightened well, it doesn’t need to be removed, so I’m confused.
For a deviated septum, is it absolutely necessary to remove the curved cartilage? Or is it okay as long as it’s well stabilized, even without removing the curved cartilage? If the curved cartilage is only straightened without being removed, is there no chance it will bend again? Could you give me some advice
