When I was in 10th grade, I had eye shape correction and epicanthoplasty in Daegu with a partial incision, not a full incision, and after about 6-7 years my eyes started to come undone
So this time, I wanted to do it properly, so I went up to Seoul for consultations. I had picked three candidate clinics, but back then I really didn’t know anything. At the first place I went for a consultation, the consultant kept pushing me, saying they would give me a discount if I booked that day and that I should at least put down a small deposit, and I guess I fell for it without going anywhere else.. I couldn’t say no.. If I could go back to that time now, I might have gotten consultations elsewhere and done it somewhere else.
Anyway, I scheduled the surgery for December 2022, showed them photos of what I wanted, and asked them to make the line a bit bigger But they said my eyelids had a lot of fat, so if they made it bigger, the outer part of my eyes would look puffy. They said if they made my eyes bigger, there wouldn’t be enough distance between my eyebrows and eyes, and it would look puffy and stuffy, so I would need a forehead lift
I was scared of a forehead lift, so I didn’t do it. I had no choice but to do a full incision and eye shape correction again, and they made it look natural. So after the surgery, I got the stitches removed and went for follow-ups, and the swelling was going down really fast, you know? I was feeling good, but at some point it felt like one eye had come undone. So I asked people around me if my eye really looked undone, and 10 out of 10 people said it had all come undone. I heard “Why did you go all the way to Seoul to get your eyes done?” like 50 times.
Seriously, when I thought about going up to Seoul, an 8-hour round trip by car plus gas money, I got so mad. I had even used annual leave So I called right away, showed them current photos of my eyes, met with the director, and talked. They immediately said we should do revision surgery as aftercare, so I had the revision in December 2023. The director also said they did it the same way as when they operate on other patients’ eyes, and that this was the first time they had seen a case like this This time too, before the surgery, I asked if they could raise the line a bit, but they kept saying it would get too close to my eyebrows, so I just did it with the original line. The director said they tied it tightly, and so far it seems like it hasn’t come undone, but the inner corner area on the side that came undone before feels kind of unstable. Please, seriously, do not come undone
As for my eyes, since I have a lot of fat there, I guess it can’t be helped that I’m not 100% satisfied When my eye had come undone, I went to another clinic in Seoul for a nose consultation without thinking much about it, and that director also told me my eye really had come undone, so I needed to do eye surgery first. They also brought up a forehead lift there because I have a lot of skin above my eyes
Somehow, I ended up having eye surgery three times. I don’t exactly love my eyes either, but I also don’t think I can really say I’m satisfied with the clinic.
In 2023, when I received revision aftercare, the consultant who had been in charge of me had quit and wasn’t there anymore. I could see that the other consultant and the people at the desk were confused about who was supposed to take care of me. When I got my stitches removed, I saw the director, and then when I went back for my one-month follow-up, even though I had made an appointment, the consultant said the director was so busy with surgery and consultations that I would have to wait more than 40 additional minutes. If it got any later, the trip back home would take too long, so I just had the consultant check my eyes instead. It took 4 hours and 30 minutes to get up to Seoul, but I was out of the clinic after talking for only 5 minutes.. Things like that made me dissatisfied with the clinic in many ways.
But even though things turned out like this for me, when I see other people, the ones whose results turned out well really did turn out well.. so maybe my eyes are the problem too.. heh. When I had the consultation, the director did tell me not to be greedy and explained only exactly what was necessary.
Anyway, right now I’ve had nose surgery and I’m working hard, going around to consultations to choose forehead lift candidates!
