I had lens implantation last January, and since it has already been a year and a half, I’m leaving a review.
Before surgery R : Myopia -6.25, astigmatism -1.75 L : Myopia -5.25, astigmatism -2.00
Current vision R : 1.2 L : 1.2
The reason I had surgery was that I had worn glasses for a long time, and there were so many inconveniences in everyday life. ex) Showering, eating ramen, not being able to use my phone while lying on my side, etc. For various reasons, I went to a hospital for a consultation, but my corneas were thinner than average and my eyesight was very poor, so the only surgical option was lens implantation.
The surgery cost more than LASIK or LASEK, but when I thought about continuing to wear glasses for decades, the answer was obvious, so I decided to have the surgery.
The surgery ended faster than I expected. As for pain, when the lens went in, it felt like my eye was being pressed firmly, and after surgery I took the subway home without any problem... (I even used the computer for a long time on the day of surgery) And the next morning, when I opened my eyes, a whole new world opened up. I could see so well and the world became so clear, so I was really happy.
Now a year and a half has passed, and if I talk about the pros and cons I’ve felt so far:
Pros after surgery. - First, I can see so well and daily life has become really convenient. - Because my glasses prescription was so high, my face used to look distorted, and that disappeared (effect of making the eyes look bigger)
Cons after surgery. - It’s fine during the day, but at night there is a little light glare/haloing (probably because my pupil size is larger than average) - At the movie theater, subtitles look blurred (it’s okay once I adjust midway through, but especially at the beginning of a movie, if text appears in a dark scene, it looks blurred)
Also, for about a month after surgery, I could see something like a round circle. The doctor said it would disappear after some time, and in my case it disappeared around one month.
In conclusion, the pros overwhelmingly outweigh the cons, so I’m very satisfied so far, and although lens implantation is expensive, I really liked that I could return to daily life right from the day after surgery.
