Before-after before-after before-after Reason for surgery: I was very often told that my nostril base was wide, and even in my own opinion, in terms of nostril base size, I was probably in the top 1%.. Not only the nostril base, but the overall nose shape itself was also on the unattractive side. So 5 years ago, I had external-incision alar reduction once.. but no one noticed, and after hearing several times from people around me that it might look better if I got alar reduction, I cried inside..
Choosing the hospital: As mentioned above, looking at my large nostril base and overall unattractive nose, my desire for rhinoplasty was always lurking.. Each time, I looked into plastic surgery but gave up because I was afraid of side effects. Even so, my complex about my nose did not improve and my self-esteem dropped too much, so I decided to have surgery. What I prioritized most in rhinoplasty was safety, and the next priority was naturalness. There was a plastic surgeon’s blog I had been quietly following for a while, and the doctor also emphasized the safety and natural beauty that I pursued, so I chose that doctor.
Consultation and surgery process: The consultation fee was 10,000 won, and it lasted about 30 minutes. The director’s consultation was done first, and after 30 minutes, I had a brief Q&A with the operating room assistant nurse (also manager(?)). Even though this clinic’s director was not the type to recommend alar reduction, he said it seemed necessary for me.. The director judged, “Rather than the nasal tip itself being extremely bulky, the nostril base is very wide, making the nose look big.” However, because the outer side of the nasal ala would be cut, he warned me in advance that scarring would inevitably remain.
The surgical method was decided as internal and external alar reduction + nasal tip ear cartilage (columellar strut) + postauricular fascia for the glabella.
Oh, and usually patients clearly ask for what they want improved.. but maybe because I have poor aesthetic sense, I did not have a clear desired look, and even if I did, I felt there was a big gap between naturalness and that ideal nose. So I entrusted everything to the director.
Review: In conclusion, my satisfaction with the surgery is about 90 out of 100. Of course, I do not think my nose after surgery is by any means a handsome nose. But if I use my previous nose as the standard, I think I can evaluate it as “cleaner and smaller than before surgery.”
Maybe because my nose was noticeably large, the difference feels bigger when seen in real life. Please understand that the photos may not be accurate (I’m in the middle of organizing..)
There is still quite a lot of swelling at the nasal tip, but I’m hoping it will become a little slimmer once it goes down..
