Review after getting medial epicanthoplasty restoration at ㅁㅇㅌ Plastic Surgery...ㅠㅠ

Before<before medial epicanthoplasty restoration>After<after medial epicanthoplasty restoration>After<after medial epicanthoplasty restoration>Hello, I am a man who has been struggling, spending time and money because of scars that formed on both inner corners of my eyes after medial epicanthoplasty restoration about 1 year and 4 months ago. I’m writing this review in the hope that it will be of even a little help to those considering medial epicanthoplasty restoration surgery.

It was October 2020. I had undergone medial epicanthoplasty around February or March of that year, but after the canthoplasty my impression looked a bit sharp, so I started considering medial epicanthoplasty restoration. It seemed like they had quite a lot of experience with medial epicanthoplasty restoration surgery, and I liked the reasonable cost, so I chose this hospital. The consultant and director were on the kind side, and after an uneventful consultation, I scheduled the medial epicanthoplasty restoration surgery date within a week.

The long-awaited day of surgery,, At the time I was living outside Seoul, so I rode a bus for about 4 hours and arrived at the hospital. There were no major difficulties with the surgery itself, except that the sedation did not take well, so they had to try several times. After surgery, the area was tied with stitches for about a week, then I went back up from the province to the hospital in Seoul to have the stitches removed, and it was all fairly uneventful.

The shape of my eyes was not exactly what I wanted, but the sharp impression was slightly improved into a somewhat softer impression, so in terms of shape it was not bad. However... on both eyes, I was left with scars that commonly occur after medial epicanthoplasty restoration, like gouges made by a fingernail...

After the restoration, the flesh near the inner corner of my left eye rose slightly in a small bump, so I visited the hospital in Seoul about 2-3 times to get injections, but it did not improve much. That area was itchy, so I scratched it with my hand, and a large red scar was left... Separately from that scar, even though I did not particularly irritate the inner corners of my left and right eyes, scars like gouges made by a fingernail remained.....

Because it was during COVID, maybe because only the eyes were visible, the scars that formed after medial epicanthoplasty restoration bothered me a lot. So to remove these scars, I tried laser treatment at a famous chain dermatology clinic (Viva Venus)... It only hurt, and I could not really tell whether it was improving, so I only did 1 session out of 3. Maybe because of that, I became interested in scar filler, which is said to have an immediate effect on depressed scars. So I went from the province all the way to a dermatology clinic in Seoul (a young director in Cheongdam-dong) and got scar filler in the inner corners of my eyes. I even got a retouch a month later, but I was not 100% satisfied, so I went to another dermatology clinic (the dermatology clinic with the most posts related to scar filler) and received scar filler again, including retouches, for 2 sessions. It has improved somewhat at least......

Ah, it’s not that I never considered revision surgery for medial epicanthoplasty restoration. Of course, I also went to this hospital about a month ago because of the scars. At this hospital, they said they could do revision surgery for the medial epicanthoplasty scars, but I would have to cover the cost.. The consultant was relatively calm and polite and counseled me about this, but since I got surgery at this hospital and developed scars, I did not want to accept the risk while paying the cost, so I passed.... I also went for in-person consultations at three places said to be famous for medial epicanthoplasty restoration. At two of them, they said the scars could be removed, but one side had a large scar, so it would have to be closed up a lot, and even if they closed it, the restored area could come undone due to tension. The last place said they could remove the scars while maintaining the eye shape as it is, but there was about a 50% chance it could come undone due to tension... The cost would be in the 2-3 million won range, and because of the risk of it coming undone due to tension, having to walk around with stitches at the inner corners of my eyes for a week after surgery, fear of new scars that could form after surgery, and so on, I passed on surgery itself..

Even though I’m a man, I’m more interested in appearance than the average man, so I have been quite stressed by the inner-corner scars that formed after medial epicanthoplasty restoration, and my confidence dropped a bit.. When I go somewhere with strong sunlight, the scars look more noticeable, so during the day I often wear a baseball cap or bucket hat, and when someone looks closely at me, I wonder if they’re looking at the scar area... Also, my male friends do not really notice, but as many as three female friends asked if I had injured the area in front of my eyes.....

There are many people who ended up clean and pretty without scars after medial epicanthoplasty restoration, so is my skin quality the problem.... They told me not to drink after surgery, so I held back from the beer I liked and drank only McCol instead of beer for a while.... The hospital had a fair number of reviews, and the consultant and director were closer to kind than unkind.... Those considering medial epicanthoplasty restoration!! If you get the surgery, the shape itself can improve, but like me, you may develop fingernail-gouge-like scars at the inner corners of your eyes, get stressed, and go through all kinds of trouble like I did because you want to get rid of the scars...

I wrote this rambling review in the hope that you will think once more about medial epicanthoplasty restoration surgery.. and in the hope that even a few fewer people will get surgery rashly and suffer stress from scars like I did.. I hope it will be of much help to those looking into this. (If you have any questions, please leave a comment or send me a message!!)
