To start with, I had very thick, broad upper-eyelid fat, so overall I had the typical monolid eyes that looked extremely heavy and closed-in. I had wanted double-eyelid surgery for a long time, but I was too scared to do anything because people around me kept saying frightening things like, “If double-eyelid surgery goes wrong, you will really suffer,” and “It has the highest chance of needing revision.” I just envied other people while looking at their before-and-after photos T_T Then recently, a close friend told me she had double-eyelid surgery at [Clinic A], and her crease turned out insanely well. There was no sausage-like appearance at all; after seeing how cleanly it had turned out, I was so impressed that I asked her right there, immediately booked a consultation, and went. She gave me the useful tip that since this clinic specializes in eyes, I should mention anything that had bothered me about my eyes?? So during the consultation, I said my lower eyelashes kept poking my eyes, making them water and sting. The coordinator said many people come to plastic surgery clinics for surgery because their lower eyelashes roll inward! (I think this is entropion, and they said they also have a lot of surgical experience with it.) During my consultation, the doctor looked at my eyes and gave me a blunt reality check, saying this was entropion and that if left untreated for a long time, it could damage the cornea and cause vision problems T_T They said a micro-incision would be made along the lower under-line to reposition the eyelashes so they point downward. They showed me before-and-after photos of patients with thick upper-eyelid tissue and entropion similar to mine and explained how they would create the crease. Their expertise was so apparent that I immediately trusted them! Hahaha. I had also once been advised to have surgery when I went to an ophthalmologist because the eyelash irritation was severe. Since I was going to have double-eyelid surgery anyway, I decided to finish everything at once and booked the surgery that day haha. Because I have a lot of tissue around my eyes and my skin is very thick, they said that if I had buried sutures, my crease would definitely loosen within a short time, so incision surgery was essential. Incision surgery felt a little intimidating, but I wanted to finish it in one go, so I agreed right away haha.
1. Remove an appropriate amount of the thick fat 2. Make the crease a thin, refined in-out crease, since making it too thick would create a sausage-like look 3. Add a mild ptosis correction because my upper eyelids were drooping and covering much of my pupils 4. Correct the lower-eyelid entropion at the same time
This is exactly what I had done. Immediately after surgery and during the early period, the bruising and swelling were legendary T_T T_T T_T Maybe because I had incision surgery and entropion correction together, the area around my eyes looked puffy and monstrous. Every time I looked in the mirror I regretted it, and I did not even take photos... The swelling went down more slowly than expected, so after I complained, the clinic immediately gave me an anti-swelling injection and told me to come every week because they had an aftercare program. The coordinator and doctor kept checking on me and told me to come whenever I had time, without feeling pressured, so I went in for aftercare five times in total hahaha. (Later, because my home was far from Apgujeong and going back and forth was difficult, I left the remaining swelling to nature..) As I continued aftercare and one or two months passed, the residual swelling gradually began to subside, and the crease became very defined, clean, and perfectly set! Even when I opened my eyes comfortably, my pupils were fully visible without being covered from above, so my previously heavy impression changed completely. The eyelashes no longer poked my eyes, so the constant tearing disappeared too, and the crease looked naturally beautiful. Now I wonder if I worried for no reason for so long haha. I should have done it sooner!!
