Nose Surgery Reviews

Revision surgery for a contracted nose: autologous rib cartilage was my only option, but I’m satisfied

For my first surgery, I had silicone placed at a major hospital, and at another hospital I had septal and ear cartilage surgery with osteotomy, donor rib cartilage, and silicone. Then blood collected between my eyes and I even developed inflammation, so I thought I needed another surgery and underwent revision rhinoplasty. Since my previous surgeries used donor rib cartilage and silicone, autologous rib cartilage was the only option this time, so I agonized over it a lot. During the consultation, the doctor carefully explained all the possible complications, scars, and swelling, as well as how the surgical materials would be used, so I trusted him and went ahead. As the swelling subsided, my nose quickly settled into place, and the tip came out nicely in a soft shape rather than being overly sharp, so I’m satisfied with the appearance too. My nose still feels slightly stuffy, but the doctor says it is well opened and will gradually improve. My nostrils are also a little wider than before.
