Hello. I joined this community a while ago and spent a lot of time searching while considering facial contouring surgery, and in the end I had surgery last January, so it has now been over a year. These days I’m looking into nose surgery, so since I came back to the community, I thought I’d leave a brief review. I did a bit of legwork and narrowed my list down to about three places, then set aside one day. I just couldn’t trust things like app photos, so on YouTube I looked at places where people had left video reviews, and among those I asked about hospitals used by people who had a face shape similar to mine and ended up with the face shape I wanted. That’s how I narrowed it down to two hospitals. For one other place, I chose a hospital that was recommended a lot in the community and whose review photos on the website matched my style. I went with my mom, and on the day of the consultations, at the first hospital we went into, I just decided to do it there and impulsively paid the deposit and booked the surgery. You might wonder how appealing it must have been for me not to even consult at the other hospitals, but thinking about it now, rather than there being some huge standout advantage, there was originally a YouTuber who had surgery there and had a very good result (matching the facial look I wanted), so it had already been my first-choice hospital. Since there wasn’t anything particularly bad during the consultation, I think I just booked it on the spot. I had been thinking of three procedures: square jaw, cheekbones, and chin. But there they said my chin was on the short side, so I should only do two procedures, and I remember it being 8.8 million won. My mom told me not to do app events or anything like that, so I just went ahead with it, and since I paid in cash I got a bit of a discount, so I think that was the amount. I didn’t think it was cheap for two procedures. On the day of surgery, honestly, rather than feeling nervous, I mostly just wanted it to be over quickly because I was thinking I could get rid of a long-standing complex. I remember getting nervous when they were securing my body? in the operating room. But after anesthesia and waking up, I was in the recovery room.. haha I had drainage tubes in, and because my skin is on the thick side I thought the swelling would be severe. But oddly, when I had double eyelid surgery, maybe because the surgery wasn’t done well, the swelling was very severe, whereas on the day of my facial surgery it was tolerable(?) So I even sent photos to my mom and dad. Though I did have the drains in.. I stayed hospitalized for one day, and as you all know from reading reviews, your throat hurts. But I’m pretty good at tolerating pain, so I just endured it diligently? Instead, it was uncomfortable enough that I couldn’t sleep?? It’s been a long time, so I don’t remember the exact level of pain very well, but I think it was like that. The next day, probably before discharge, they removed the drains, and I was reaaally scared. I had read several reviews and seen many saying it hurt, so I was more nervous about that than the surgery itself. Did you know the drain is inserted much deeper than you’d expect? haha I wondered how they could possibly remove this without anesthesia, but from what I remember, it was better than I expected. After it was removed, it felt relieving. I don’t think you need to be that scared. It was just slightly throbbing? Then I put on that compression thing, wore a hat and mask, and was discharged. Oh, I think I also got laser treatment before leaving. Around days 2-4, my face gradually became a full moon, and the flesh was slightly hard. At this time, it wasn’t the facial bone areas they touched that hurt, but the intraoral stitches that hurt so, so, so, so much that I couldn’t sleep and it was really hard. The stitches were running all along my gums, and it really felt like my teeth were going to fall out. It hurt so much that I wondered if they had tied the thread too close to the gums. So it hurt a bit when the stitches were removed. The sideburn area too.. ㅜㅜ Still, after the stitches were removed, the pain disappeared, and from then on I could finally live comfortably. Since last year was also during COVID, it was easier to cover up and go for walks, so I really walked every day. When I had double eyelid surgery, I didn’t do cold compresses, didn’t walk, and barely did any aftercare, so I wondered if that was why the swelling had been worse. This time I did cold compresses and did my best with care. I also took those mood-lifting alpha? pills. Of course, I’m not sure if they had any effect, but because of that, after a month I thought I looked pretty decent. Looking at it now, I think there was still a lot of swelling, but it was still tolerable. I think around 2-3 months was when I was most satisfied with my face shape. Or maybe up to around 6 months? It was probably because there was still swelling, but the volume remained slightly prettily, so from cheekbones to jaw it looked really smooth and like a round oval/egg shape. After 6 months, almost all the facial volume (swelling) went down, and then the cheekbones started to stand out slightly again, you know?! Of course, not as much as before. And I did lose weight too, but my face shape definitely isn’t like people who have virtually no cheekbones at all. It’s still like that now. The left square jaw is also slightly still there. The asymmetry is also still present. Still, before, I was obsessed with covering my whole face with my hair and stressed about having a strong-looking impression. Now, even if my hair blows in the wind, I don’t care, and my impression has become much softer. Of course, I wanted a perfect! face shape and wanted a more round, smooth face shape, but whether the effect at the hospital I went to was insufficient, or my original face shape had certain limitations, or both, I didn’t experience some huge? transformation? Even now, when I look at my face, I think there are areas I’d like to improve a little. But I’m still so happy that I solved my biggest complex and got free from the parts I had been truly obsessed with. And because it wasn’t done too excessively, I think there were fewer side effects. Of course, it has only been a year, but for now there is no skin sagging. I think it’s because they didn’t shave too much. The side effect I experienced appears in the chin area. Interestingly, they didn’t touch my chin, but since surgery, sensation around the chin area feels about 80%, and there is a slight pulling? feeling. Still, I think this much is something I can accept. As I wrote, this ended up becoming very long again, but I hope this review helps someone else even a little, just as reading other people’s reviews helped me!
