Before <photo taken immediately after surgery. My left eye was revised today so it has some swelling, and my right eye has had a bit more swelling go down over the past week> I got double-eyelid surgery at Period a week ago and had my stitches removed today!
I was worried the swelling would be severe, but people say it turned out naturally, so with glasses on, they can’t tell I had double-eyelid surgery unless they look closely. They also say they thought double eyelids wouldn’t suit me, but now that I’ve had it done, it seems like a good choice haha
I heard this place designs conservatively without overdoing things, but I had a lot of sagging skin and severe ptosis, so I did it with an incision. The doctor diagnosed that it would be better to set the line slightly higher than what I wanted (I had wanted monolids or an inline crease). Also, at first I was planning to get lateral canthoplasty, but the director said my eyes were already long enough horizontally, so I didn’t need lateral canthoplasty. I trusted him and went with that, and I’m completely satisfied! Looking at it now, I think my eye shape would have looked a bit strange if I had done lateral canthoplasty.
Right after surgery, even with just a little effort, it felt like my eyes opened wide and refreshingly? So I thought, ah, I really had been living with very heavy eyes until then.
However, my left eye felt tight and dry/stiff, and as it happened, the counseling manager asked me the day after surgery how the swelling and sensation were. So I told them that the feeling when opening both eyes was a bit different, and we decided to check it carefully when removing the stitches.
When I went to have the stitches removed, the director checked and said the left side seemed to have been corrected too tightly and that we should slightly adjust it right away. The after-service revision was finished quickly in almost 30 minutes haha
I originally had slightly different eye-opening strength on both sides since I was young, and they said muscle adjustment for ptosis correction often requires one additional surgery.
This was explained well to me from the beginning, and if it had been another hospital, they might have told me to wait and monitor the progress for 6 months or 1 year, so that made me feel even more that I made the right choice. The director is so cool and was really great!
Now the tired feeling in my left eye is definitely gone, and both eyes feel comfortable. The swelling wasn’t severe from the start, so it’s not uncomfortable.
I strongly recommend this hospital!!
P.S. When getting surgery, sleep anesthesia was better than local anesthesia. Local anesthesia (I had local anesthesia for the revision) didn’t hurt either, but with sleep anesthesia, my body muscles were relaxed, and having surgery while slightly groggy made me physically and mentally comfortable. During surgery, they wake you up and keep checking by saying, “Open your eyes and look here, sit up and look straight ahead,” so I felt there was no need to insist on local anesthesia.
