I thought my nose would naturally become slimmer and prettier after surgery, but I still had to contour it heavily when applying makeup, and the tip looked blunt in photos, which stressed me out terribly. After my first surgery failed, I felt I absolutely could not fail this time, so even finding a hospital for revision surgery was truly hell. T_T I looked through thousands of posts on this community, apps, and cafes, haha. I searched for keywords like rhinoplasty revision and bulbous-nose osteotomy, organized everything from complication posts to successful revision reviews in Excel, and categorized the hospitals. I made a list and visited five or six places just for consultations, but every surgeon said something different. One said osteotomy should not be done, another said donor rib cartilage was necessary, and others said it was not, so I nearly lost my mind. Every time I went around for consultations, I was completely drained and would lie down as soon as I got home, then compare everything again. T_T
I visited Saegim as the second-to-last place. The surgeon looked at my nose and immediately pinpointed that the existing silicone implant was slightly wider than my nasal bone width, that I also had a bulbous-nose tendency, and that the nasal tip support was weak, making the whole nose look blunt. Without pushing unnecessary procedures, the surgeon presented the most convincing plan for rebuilding a slimmer line, so I chose this place.
Because osteotomy was included, I definitely had more bruising and under-eye swelling than after my first surgery, haha. Perhaps because donor rib cartilage was used, the tip felt slightly sore, but I endured it with the single thought that my nose had really become slimmer after all the research and consultations. On the day the splint was removed, looking in the mirror made me feel as if all the effort had finally been rewarded. Even with swelling, the wide bridge had become much narrower, and the tip was visibly gathered into a refined shape.
As the residual swelling went down, the osteotomy area along the side of the bridge became smooth and slender. In the past, my nose looked broad and spread out from the front, but now the bridge line is sharply straight even without highlighter! I am most satisfied that the blunt tip that looked dull in 45-degree photos has completely disappeared. T_T T_T T_
The period of researching hospitals after my first surgery failed was mentally exhausting, but I think all the careful research and consultations were worth it. For people like me whose nasal bones are naturally wide or whose nose looks blunt, simply making it higher cannot make it slim. I am extremely satisfied that they gave me exactly the slim, refined yet elegant line I wanted. T_T T_T T T T T T T T T
