Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

A double-jaw contouring review that even my best friend didn’t know was surgery!! I’m obsessed with the natural look haha

What satisfies me most after double-jaw surgery is not only the change in my appearance, but also that the inconveniences I used to take for granted have gradually disappeared!!! I had double-jaw surgery nine months ago at Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon, and everyday life has become so comfortable that I sometimes even forget I had surgery! I had a malocclusion since elementary school, but because I lived overseas, I couldn’t receive orthodontic treatment at the right time. I did have orthodontic treatment in middle and high school, but I was told that my bite had been forced into alignment, and that I would need double-jaw surgery either to leave it as it was or to improve it fundamentally. So I had always thought I would need surgery someday. When researching clinics, I looked at many before-and-after photos of people with malocclusions similar to mine, and I liked the natural changes at Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery most. I also checked Dr. Kim Jong-yoon’s experience, and the facts that he is an oral and maxillofacial specialist and that orthodontic collaboration is available were major reasons I chose the clinic. From around eight months after surgery, I really became able to forget I had undergone surgery. Sometimes I remember it when I feel a tingling sensation around my jaw or during orthodontic treatment, but normally I live without paying much attention to it. Before, I was conscious of my hairstyle and avoided turtlenecks because I worried my lower face would stand out, but now I can wear whatever clothes I want and enjoy taking photos so much more! I also enjoy seeing my changed face shape whenever I put on makeup, and when people around me say I look prettier, I think I made the right choice having surgery! Haha. And now I’m at month nine! As time passes, I feel even more that surgery was the right decision. Recently I met a close friend whom I had last seen before surgery, and they said I looked somehow different and prettier, haha. I liked it even more that they said they would not have known I had double-jaw surgery unless I told them. I wanted a natural, non-artificial change from the beginning, and I’m satisfied that I’ve come close to the look I wanted!!! In my case, the swelling went down considerably starting around month four, and my face now looks much more natural than it did early after surgery. Most importantly, the clicking sound from my jaw joint has disappeared, and recently I can hardly feel the temporomandibular joint pain and migraines I used to experience often. I had forgotten because I had been pain-free for a while, but writing this review made me realize again how significant that change is, haha. Before, eating was difficult because of my uncomfortable tooth alignment and malocclusion, but now even the small change of being able to eat with my front teeth makes me so happy. Of course, orthodontic treatment is still ongoing, so I’m careful when eating and visit the clinic every month for orthodontic care. Since this is the process of correcting teeth that had already been orthodontically treated, it needs a little more time, but considering how the discomfort I had worried about for so long before surgery has improved, I feel it is a process well worth enduring! There is just under a year left until my orthodontic treatment ends. I made it through eight months of presurgical orthodontics, and the recovery period after double-jaw surgery passed faster than expected, so I want to finish the remaining time well too~!! Above all, I’m endlessly grateful to myself for deciding to undergo the surgery I had only thought I should get someday, and to Dr. Kim at Iyoo Oral for carrying it out safely at a skilled clinic, haha. I’m looking forward to seeing what other changes there will be once orthodontic treatment is finished, and I’m enjoying my days, haha!!
