My alae were wide and my nostrils were on the large side, so I was stressed every time I took photos. After surgery, they were reduced very naturally, to the point that it does not look obviously overdone, so I am quite satisfied. Acquaintances and family just say, “You got prettier!” and they do not notice until I tell them I had surgery. But... if you already have nostril/facial asymmetry, I think it is best to clearly tell them during consultation how much you want each ala reduced. Since I am only 1 month post-op, I will have to watch it longer to know, but the asymmetry bothers me more than I expected.
For three days after surgery, there was quite a bit of pain. I think it hurt especially when sleeping or eating. But after that, the pain decreased a lot, so daily life was not difficult. Since it is a surgery that involves incising and tying, there is inevitably some discomfort from tightness around the philtrum and upper lip. But you soon get used to it, and it decreases. Right now, it feels so comfortable that I wonder if I even had surgery.
Surgical marks vary so clearly depending on the person and how much was incised that it is hard to say definitively, but when viewed from the front or side, it is not obvious enough to think, “They clearly had surgery...” If you are sensitive about scars, I think you can manage without much trouble by appropriately covering them with foundation or concealer until the scars fade.
They kindly helped me from consultation through aftercare, so even with a somewhat rushed schedule, I had surgery and am recovering without difficulty. I hope this review helps even a little.
