Before and after (the last photo is current) I originally had uneven eyes and didn’t like them, so in 2018 I had my first surgery with Director Park Il at Yonsei First. I had incisional double eyelid surgery together with medial epicanthoplasty, and I think it looked prettiest at 1 month post-op. After 1 year it was fairly okay, but it still felt asymmetrical, so after visiting a few places, I had revision surgery at Motive with upper canthoplasty and buried-suture double eyelid surgery. We decided to make the line slightly visible, so I think it looked prettiest at 1 month, and I was fairly satisfied, so one month after surgery 5 years ago, I even wrote a post in this community saying I was satisfied. After that, as time gradually passed, the size of the double eyelid line that had been made visible gradually became smaller, maybe because the swelling went down.. I live overseas, so I don’t have many chances to go to Korea. Now, after 5 years… the eye asymmetry still seems to be there, and above all, compared severely with before the revision surgery (compared with 2018 in the photos), it seems like there is no difference at all. So yesterday I went around to a few places for cosmetic surgery consultations, and lastly went to Motive Plastic Surgery, where I had the revision surgery 5 years ago, took photos, and met the director.
But I was so shocked… I was speechless and felt really upset. They compared photos from before the previous surgery with the photos taken yesterday and showed them to me, but honestly, anyone can see that the eyes in the photos before and after look exactly the same, and that would mean the non-incisional line had completely come undone. But he said things like it had improved a lot compared with before and asked what more I wanted… When I said the double eyelid lines on both eyes don’t match and there is a visible difference in size… he said then let’s do another incision on just one eye with upper canthoplasty. And he quoted 1.5 million won… Other hospitals also quoted 1.5 million won for one side… I was really dumbfounded and felt extremely bad. At the very least, shouldn’t a doctor’s conscience toward a patient be to answer honestly and sincerely, saying something like, “Compared with before, the line seems to have loosened a lot, and there doesn’t seem to be much difference. Revision surgery may be reasonable”?
I’m left only regretting that I should have just had surgery at the first place, Yonsei First, and lived satisfied. Back then, at least the double eyelid lines on both sides weren’t that different.
I’m the type who barely touches my face, but he told me not to rub my eyes… and spoke as if it had come undone because of me, so yesterday and today I’ve felt really strange…
Since I’ve already had surgery twice, I’m scared to do it again, and I’m really unsure what to do.
