I had double eyelid surgery 3 years ago. I didn’t know about any apps and didn’t have much money, so I went around in person and visited more than 5 clinics. I walked around the Sinnonhyeon~Gangnam area and went into places I saw to get quotes. I thought the most important things were getting a recommended surgical method and having them mark a line for me, so I had them mark the line, heard the price, and left. I also went to 2 places in Sinsa, but they were basically at least 1 million won more expensive than Gangnam. Instead, the director consulted with me directly rather than the consultant. In Gangnam, 1 place recommended the buried-suture method, and all the others recommended an in-out incisional double eyelid. They also seemed to think my eye-opening strength was slightly lacking, so they all included ptosis correction. One place in Sinsa recommended an outline crease, so I ruled it out. I went to the place that marked the line closest to the shape I wanted (natural, but noticeably pretty, without looking like a caterpillar...) I met the director once, had the line marked again, and proceeded with epicanthoplasty + ptosis correction + in-out incisional double eyelid surgery. I’m not sure if the surgery was under local anesthesia, but while I was hazy, I followed the instructions to open my eyes, close them, open them, close them, and the surgery finished. The anesthesia worked well until the surgery was over (I’m weak with alcohol). After it ended, I was out of it, and I don’t really remember whether I walked to the recovery room because I was so dazed and it was so long ago... Anyway, while I couldn’t get myself together, I think my mom also paid extra for something like an injection to make the swelling go down faster? I must have looked really pitiful.... I was discharged quickly, and I remember diligently doing warm and cold compresses according to the manual with the compress pack the clinic gave me. Because of the stitches, my nickname for a while was Frankenstein... -_- Everything else was bearable, but when my nose itched and I pulled at it with my hand (it’s a habit), the stitches around the epicanthoplasty area would get pulled and it hurt so, so much. I even teared up a little when the stitches were removed. And I lived very carefully, but after a few years I got so used to it that when I rubbed my eyes hard, I panicked thinking the crease had come undone. But it really only comes undone if you rub it pathologically hard, and when I tucked it back in, it went back in (phew). Now, more than 3 years later... if I could go back, I’d ask them to make it a bit bigger haha. When there was swelling, it looked so glamorous and pretty haha. Still, it’s pretty enough and feels like my own eyes, so I don’t really plan to get revision surgery. Except for old friends, if I don’t say I had double eyelid surgery, nobody knows lol. I don’t know how to wrap this up. Anyway, I really think double eyelid surgery is worth doing...
