I had breast surgery 13 years ago, back when I didn’t know anything, at ㄱㄹㄷ in Gangnam. That doctor is still doing surgeries at another hospital and is moderately well-known. The problem is that my surgery was done with either Allergan or Mentor, one of the two, but the doctor said he would decide the size and brand after going into the operating room, so in the end I don’t know which one was used. I regret that I should have properly received something like an implant card. The problem is that 3 years ago, I first heard that the textured implant I had used was subject to a worldwide recall. Since I live in the U.S., I went to a plastic surgery clinic here, and they said that in the U.S. all implants are recorded, so I should ask the Korean hospital what implant was used. They said that if there are no major side effects, I don’t necessarily need revision surgery. But with Allergan, the possibility of causing cancer is higher, so it would be good to replace it, and Allergan also supports the cost here in the U.S.; there have also been many lawsuits. Anyway, that’s why the record of my implant is important, but ㄱㄹㄷ says the record is gone because it’s been too long. Totally insane… And places like the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety supposedly track breast implants? They say there should be records like that, but because I live abroad, I don’t have a Korean phone either and can’t verify my identity. When I called, they told me to call another department, then told me to try the public health center, and it was completely haphazard… Sorry for the really long post, but living with a recalled implant inside me makes me so anxious and stressed. If anyone can help with anything related to records like this, please let me know in the comments!! Revision surgery too!! And don’t end up regretting it later like me; make sure you properly keep records of implant surgeries and things like that. The implant company usually compensates you, so absolutely do it!!
