I had buried-suture double eyelid surgery in 2023, but it came undone. At the time I got an in-out line, but it loosened while turning into a double crease. Commonly, the places I visited pointed out that the problem with my eyes was that my eye-opening strength was too weak. During my first surgery, I didn’t do ptosis correction or canthoplasty at all (they did recommend ptosis correction back then too). I only did double eyelid surgery because I was anxious about what if the surgery went wrong, but I do regret it..
But at ㄱㄹㅂ and ㅇㄹ, they said that simply having weak eye-opening strength doesn’t mean every eye needs ptosis correction. At ㅇㅇㄴㅋ, they suggested doing ptosis correction together. They said to do upper canthoplasty and fat removal together rather than ptosis correction, and because my buried-suture surgery had come undone, they said to do revision surgery with an incision.
Everyone who has surgery non-incisionally and then changes to incision will relate, but honestly, you can’t help worrying about swelling + recovery.. I also said things like what if the swelling doesn’t go down, what if I get sausage eyes, but they said my eyelids are already very stretched, so doing non-incisional surgery now would be useless. They said not only would the double eyelid overlap, but it would also be difficult to create the in-out line I want.
And more than anything, at ㅇㄹ they said my eyelids were a problem, but also that the current symmetry of both lines didn’t match. Since they’re my own eyes, I might not know in detail, but hospitals take photos for you, right? Looking at that, the symmetry was seriously different.. It felt like I was only lifting my right eye higher;; They said that to match this symmetry, incision is even more definitely the right surgical method.
Because every hospital I went to kept saying incision, I was so worried, and the hospital said they provide swelling lasers and swelling care as aftercare, so not to worry too much.. But honestly, since I haven’t received it yet, I can’t help worrying.
After going around for consultations, I set a date at one of these places, but because it’s revision surgery, I think I can’t help still feeling anxious.. Still, compared with suffering alone, after going around for consultations I learned a lot of information, so I think I’m glad I went. Everyone preparing for revision surgery, how did you manage your mental state? I’m so nervous until surgery day that I feel like I’m going to lose my mind..
