Hi I’m an older guy who had 3-part facial contouring surgery a little less than a year ago ~
I’m going to write a short review.
I had the surgery at a big building next to Sinnonhyeon Station. If I say that much, you’ll probably know where it is haha. I won’t take clinic questions.
1. Choosing the clinic
This seems like what a factory-style clinic is like. The director was extremely busy, and the consultation felt rushed and skimmed over. Since they didn’t seem to accurately grasp the patient’s needs during the consultation, it felt like the doctor performed the surgery according to his own aesthetic standards. They did chin advancement, which wasn’t mentioned at the first consultation. In the end, it didn’t look strange, so I just let it go. If you have clear standards of your own, I think you need to say them very clearly at the first consultation. And on the day of surgery, when I walked into the operating room, several operating rooms were all connected by sliding doors, so it looked like the doctor could move back and forth while operating. In practice, it seemed like one room had several operating tables, only divided by sliding doors.
2. After surgery
After the surgery, I wasn’t really in much pain or having a hard time. I kept sleeping and waking up while sitting, and when I got thirsty, I drank water with a syringe, and before I knew it, it was discharge day haha. The nurses came in frequently to check my blood pressure and ask if anything was uncomfortable. All the nurses taking care of me were kind haha. You stay hospitalized for one day. They do give you various things when you’re discharged, but they don’t give anything particularly high-quality.
For about two weeks I went in from time to time for care, and finally when the stitches were removed, I had a consultation with the director. Even then, was it about 5 minutes? He looked at the chart and my face, said the surgery went well ~ and left. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t feel like I was being cared for.
3. Surgical result I think they’re good at surgery. Now that half a year has passed, I don’t have any major side effects in particular, and when I checked the follow-up CT, the fixation was very solid. Maybe thanks to that, I don’t seem to have the zygomatic nonunion I had worried about haha. For the jaw, they cut it so narrowly down to just below the nerve line, so I don’t know whether that was skill or good luck lol. There’s no major nerve damage, but I still have tightness in the lower jaw and reduced gum sensation haha. It’ll probably get better. My bone asymmetry was originally severe, so even now the asymmetry hasn’t completely improved. Well, I expected that much haha. It’s really just my old face with the face size made smaller lol. People who don’t know I had surgery all say the same thing, that I lost a lot of weight. I didn’t have high expectations for the cheekbones, but the 45-degree cheekbones really disappeared dramatically. But after the cheekbones disappeared, I also heard that my face looks too flat.
4. Follow-up check And when I went to get the follow-up CT, they charged 20,000 won for the CT lol. And that consultation also ended within about 5 to 10 minutes, as expected. He glanced at the CT images and said the fixation was here and there ~ the bones healed well ~ I could probably remove the fixation pins soon ~ the reduced sensation will gradually improve, and if the nerve line had been injured, the sensation wouldn’t have come back at all ~ that’s the kind of stuff I heard before leaving. What I wanted to hear was how much the cheekbones were reduced compared with before, how much the jaw was reduced, things like that, but he didn’t tell me any of that ~ If someone says to me, “You didn’t ask,” I have nothing to say haha.
Well, I think that’s roughly it for the review. It doesn’t feel like a really bad place, but not a really good place either? I hope this helps when choosing a clinic and deciding on surgery ~
