It’s no exaggeration to say I’ve really been waiting for this day. I uploaded the photos in the order of my eye timeline.
First of all, I had monolids, and when I got my first double-eyelid surgery, I visited 8 clinics, and I think it turned out not bad. Because of my epicanthal folds, a lot of places recommended medial epicanthoplasty, so I only had it opened very slightly so it wouldn’t be noticeable, and the double eyelids were done with the buried-suture method.
I was pretty satisfied with my first double-eyelid surgery! Everyone around me said it looked fine too. But as time passed, the front part of the line started dropping, and it was almost becoming an in-out line? So my parents also thought maybe it would be okay if I only opened the upper part, and when I went to the clinic, the clinic just happened to recommend upper epicanthoplasty too. The clinic I consulted at was also an acquaintance’s clinic, so I just had the consultation and surgery on the same day, but haa...
From the 4th photo onward is after the upper epicanthoplasty. Hahahahaha. The line was completely ruined, and one side came undone. I could say the side that came undone was because time had passed, but the lines really didn’t match at all. For 2 years it was honestly so stressful, and when I did eye makeup, they looked so uneven, so I seriously struggled. I was also really upset Before my revision eye surgery, my boyfriend still said it looked okay, but after the revision, he said actually after that upper epicanthoplasty, it was really noticeable that my double eyelid had come undone and the line was messed up, and it did look strange, but he didn’t show it because I was so upset (we’ve dated a long time, so he saw every change in my eyes lol). Anyway, the clinic said my double eyelid was originally on the verge of coming undone.. Well, okay, fine, but shouldn’t the line from the upper epicanthoplasty at least match my original double-eyelid line..? When I asked about revision surgery, they said I’d have to redo the double eyelid completely. Huhhhh, and I’d have to pay the full amount too..
But I live overseas, and I had gotten it done when I went back to Korea once every few years, so when would I even go back again.. In the end, recently I suddenly had to go back for a really short time, so I did online research for almost a week, for over 20 hours, and as soon as I arrived in Korea, I had a consultation the next day and got revision eye surgery two days later.. I went to 4 consultations, and wow... all 4 places said the same thing: the upper epicanthoplasty hadn’t worked and it just left scars... Maybe it had opened a little, but hearing that only scar marks were left honestly made me feel so complicated and awful..
In conclusion, all 4 places similarly recommended an incisional method, and except for one place, they didn’t recommend any canthoplasty, so I had it done at the place I liked. Seriously, you have no idea how nervous I was... I didn’t have time, so among the 4 places, I had to just decide on the same day at the one I liked most and do it.. But it really turned out so well.. After I went back overseas, everyone who saw me, including my parents of course, said it turned out better than before.. Even when I look at it, it really turned out so well Please ignore the scars from the medial and upper epicanthoplasty, since I already had those a bit..
Anyway, I really wanted to show this... I was so upset, but it succeeded!!!! The last one was taken just now, and it’s been exactly two months and a few days! I barely had any swelling from the beginning, so both I and the people around me were all surprised I hope everyone succeeds with their first surgery, and even if you end up getting revision eye surgery, I hope it succeeds too!!
And p.s. I’m truly grateful to the doctor who did my revision eye surgery... overwhelmingly grateful.. Since I live overseas and had to leave the country right away, other clinics said they couldn’t take review photos at the clinic, so I’d have to upload more eye review photos by myself for the event price to apply. But this clinic heard I live overseas and basically just said okay and gave me the event price... It was also the cheapest! (This is genuinely just a review I’m posting because my own satisfaction is so high, not a clinic promotion)
