I had LASEK vision correction done at Bright St. Mary’s Eye Clinic near Gangnam Station. I’m now in my 6th year, and at a health checkup my vision came out as 1.2 / 1.0.
Including me, my cousin and acquaintances all did it at this hospital, so I received an acquaintance discount. They also had an in-company promotion, so I recommend checking the various discount routes before getting it.
Gangnam eye clinics definitely seem factory-style. It proceeds like waiting > anesthetic eye drops > operating room (5 minutes) > recovery room, and the surgery itself seems to take about 5 minutes with the laser.
As a surgery review, it’s uncomfortable that they fix your eye so you can’t close it, and it’s hard having to stare at just one point on the ceiling while the laser ablates the cornea. If your focus drifts while staring at one point, the machine stops, and the eye that was operated on in one go has better vision than the eye where it paused. I recommend trying hard to keep looking at one point
There wasn’t much pain, and I paid extra to make autologous serum eye drops and put them in every hour. My eyes stung, so I couldn’t open them well, and I just listened to the radio and slept every day Since I couldn’t see, even eating was hard.
A little before 2 weeks, I started being able to open my eyes well, and from one month onward I went outside wearing sunglasses. Since it’s laser surgery, aftercare such as blocking sunlight as much as possible is also important.
