Hehehehehe, before, before, before. Double-jaw surgery was something I had really wanted since my early 20s, but at a young age the cost felt like too much of a burden, and I was too scared, so I couldn't do it Then about a year ago, a friend told me they had square-jaw surgery at an oral and maxillofacial clinic! haha I found out about it through that friend, and after looking into the clinic more, I had a consultation with Director Kim Jong-yoon. Because I felt I could trust him, I ended up choosing this place!!
Day 1 I was a presurgical orthodontics case, so I had been visiting the hospital every month for over a year. Maybe because of that, even on the day of double-jaw surgery, I didn't feel that scared and actually felt comfortable! Even until I came out after double-jaw surgery, I didn't have any pain or discomfort~ And a donut cushion is a must!! Day 1 was a day of repeatedly sleeping and waking up, sleeping and waking up lol
Day 2 In the morning, I received laser treatment and had the inside of my mouth disinfected! One side inside my nose was swollen, so it was hard to breathe through my nose My face was so swollen that it didn't feel like my own face, but it was just amazing that my chin was set back haha I just wanted the swelling to go down quickly so I could see my proper face lol Now swallowing water was so hard that I couldn't even drink half a cup of water, but today I got somewhat used to it, so I was able to drink more than half of a New Care haha
Day 3 In the morning, I received laser treatment at the hospital, changed the dressing, got a 1-week prescription, then received discharge instructions and was discharged! Thinking that I now had to do everything alone at home felt overwhelming, and there were many uncomfortable things, but as time passed, I got used to this too!!
Day 4 They said I could remove the tape from my face, so I did, and breathing was so much easier. It was way better to take it off, you know? haha I didn't do cold compresses, and whenever it felt like my face was about to swell up until it burst, I walked around whenever I could, even just inside the house!! When I wore the facial compression band, breathing was too hard, so once it became more comfortable, it was much more bearable
Day 5 It feels like my face is going to burst.... haha... Still, compared with yesterday, it feels like the swelling is rising a little less. They say walking a lot is the best for reducing swelling, but it was too hot during the day to go out, so I moved around as much as possible at home!
Day 6 It feels like the swelling has gone down just a tiny bit! The swollen area inside my nose seems to have gone down a little, so things got much easier!! And I was craving sweets so much that I bought pudding, made steamed eggs, and ate everything I could eat. Writing this out, it feels like today is more bearable than yesterday again, right? I think I must have thought a million times that I would have no other wish if only the swelling in my face would go away a bit.
One week lol They said the swelling goes down better if you move a lot, so I went out to work here and there and also tried to keep talking! On days 4-5, when I woke up after sleeping, my face really felt like it was going to burst, but now it doesn't!!
The long-awaited 2-week mark!! I went to the hospital, had the stitches removed, and received laser treatment too. A lot of people said stitch removal hurts, so I was scared, but it wasn't unbearable! They said I could briefly take out the wafer when eating and brushing my teeth after the stitches were removed, so I'm really happy That alone feels like my quality of life has upgraded another level!! The facial swelling seems to be going down little by little every day!! I've been working at my workplace since day 7 after double-jaw surgery, and these days the swelling has gone down a lot, so I'm not even wearing a mask! Every day is fun watching my face change day by day haha
