Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

3 months after double-jaw surgery, 80% of the swelling is gone

It has been 3-4 months since the surgery, and about 80% of the swelling has gone down. I feel like I spent those 3 months just waiting for the swelling to go down ~ That must mean I wasn't in much pain or uncomfortable in daily life ! Since my school days, I had a complex about my unattractive appearance, the way people looked at me and criticized me, and especially my protruding jaw. When I went to a local dental clinic, I found out the shocking truth that it was not a problem with my teeth but a problem with my jaw, so it could not be solved with orthodontic treatment.. haha So after becoming an adult, I decided to have double-jaw surgery. I had consultations at about five places, including university hospitals and private clinics, and finally chose Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which I found through YouTube. The reason I chose it was largely because of the chief director's expertise, but among the videos I saw on YouTube, the one titled as a message to parents really resonated with me, and after that I became completely set on Y. Besides that, the fact that they showed the CCTV in real time also reassured me, and the kind staff also made me trust them. haha Anyway, that is how I had double-jaw surgery and two types of facial contouring surgery (square jaw and chin) in February!

Right now, I am making my own efforts at home, such as consistently wearing a lifting band and applying firming cream, to prevent my skin from sagging even a little in the areas where the bone was shaved down ! Recently, I suddenly took out some childhood photos, and it is just amazing that the short, round face shape I had as a baby, before my jaw protruded and made my face look longer, is now what I see in the mirror. haha Especially, I think the side profile is where the change from double-jaw surgery is most clearly visible. At first, people around me felt awkward about my changed appearance too, but now that they seem to have gotten used to it, I have heard things like my face looks smaller and my nose looks a bit higher.

Up until two months after surgery, there were still some limits to what I could eat, but now that I am in my third month, I am eating very well. If there are any uncomfortable foods, maybe naengmyeon that is chewy and does not break easily, or very tough meat...? I think it is because I am still undergoing postsurgical orthodontic treatment. The more intense exercise that I could not do while recovering from surgery is now possible without strain in my third month haha So far, I am living my usual life well with no problems in daily life. Still, of course, I am being more careful with my face than before surgery. Since I considered it a major surgery, I went into it accepting some degree of nerve damage, so I am even more grateful and satisfied that the nerves recovered and came back quickly ~
