I had consultations at several places and had alar reduction at other hospitals with both incisional and non-incisional methods, but there was no improvement~ After consulting at multiple hospitals, I decided to have surgery at Dr. Romi~ The biggest reason I decided to have surgery here was that they first asked from my perspective where I wanted surgery and how I wanted to improve it.. what kind of surgery I had thought about from the patient’s perspective, and then, based on that, they showed me before-and-after photos of cases with nose shapes similar to mine and explained them. They also took a 3D CT, so with a virtual plastic surgery program I could roughly estimate in advance how much the nasal tip would be extended and about how much septal cartilage I had, which was good. They listened first to what the patient considered important without insisting on their own preference, explained what surgery would be needed to improve that, and made the consultation comfortable so the patient could make the decision. During the consultation, I strongly felt that I could trust this doctor~ I have had an autoimmune disease for nearly 20 years, so no implant or prosthetic material can go into my body. Because that part made me cautious, I asked about it in advance~ They also had very specialized knowledge about biologic agents that regulate the body’s immunity because of autoimmune disease, so I was surprised~ Ultimately, their view was that biologic agents selectively bind to and suppress cells with abnormal immune activity, so surgery may not carry a high risk. I have also previously had artificial temporomandibular joint surgery, cheekbone reduction, and hand joint deformity surgery at a university hospital!!
On 5/31, the day of surgery~ When I entered the operating room, they very meticulously and delicately did the preparations needed before surgery. Starting from the antibiotic test before surgery, the operating room staff were really kind and good people on a human level, so I think I was able to have surgery safely without getting too nervous~ Especially when I was under sleep anesthesia, the operating room staff held my hand tightly the entire time so I wouldn’t be nervous~ Throughout the surgery, my scared and tense feelings were able to settle down~ I was so grateful~
Today, 6/1, is day 1 after surgery, and I couldn’t sleep at all yesterday because of the cotton in my noseㅠ I went today, had the cotton removed from my nose, had the inside of my nose disinfected, and had ointment applied. The stitches inside the nose and the silicone-like perforated things that hold the shape are scheduled to be removed around 6/7~ I thought I wouldn’t swell~ but the area around my eyes started getting very swollen, and it seems to be slowly moving down from my cheeks
As for pain, on the day of surgery my nose felt sharp and stinging (like the burning feeling when water gets into your nose at a swimming pool), then as the anesthesia wore off I felt slight pain, so on the day of surgery I took painkillers twice separately from the prescribed medicine~ Today, day 1 after surgery, other than my nose being a little stuffy, I can breathe through my nose, so I feel so alive~ There’s no pain~ The swelling has made my eyes bluish.
The shape definitely seems easier to see today than yesterday~ Even before the swelling goes down, I can clearly see that it has become smaller~ Once time passes and the swelling goes down, I think I’ll be able to live with the small nose I wanted, so I’m very happy♡
There are hardly any surgical reviews for this hospital here~ but it’s really a good place~ I trust this community the most compared with other plastic surgery apps, so I’m leaving a review in the place I trust~ If anyone is wondering whether to go here for a consultation, I definitely recommend going for a consultation! First, definitely go for a consultation and then decide~ Every patient wants different things and considers different things important, but for the basics, I think the doctor, the front desk staff, and the operating room staff all have a positive influence, which creates that comfortable hospital atmosphere! Wherever you go, the basics are the most important!! And from having alar reduction twice at other hospitals, what I felt is.. this place is clean, with absolutely no pressure to write a review through some surgical review event or whatever!
You’ll know if you go.. I’m leaving this review because I hope it becomes much, much better known... (Added text) Around 6/7, I got my stitches removed today~ They said the nasal tip swelling will slowly go down until the 3-month mark and may continue going down up to 6 months~ Even before the swelling has gone down, compared with before surgery, from the front it changed to the narrower width I wanted, so I like it... If you have a hump nose and bulbous nose like me, I hope this helps as a reference~ P.S. I plan to edit in photos at 1 month and 3 months later. For people with cases similar to mine, I hope you definitely go here too when you go for consultations~ I think the reason there aren’t many reviews is because they don’t pressure people to write event reviews.
