but I remembered myself from a few months ago, struggling to find real reviews, digging through every possible source online and offline, and I came back here after a long time!
I had my surgery at Mint, and I really liked that the director was highly professional (it seemed like he was continuing academic research), had great surgical skill, and provided thorough aftercare.
I’m the type who does a truly enormous amount of research, comparison, and deliberation even when buying something ordinary.
Actually, when I first decided on nose surgery, there was a hospital I had been watching for a long time and I planned to have the surgery there. Since Mint’s director is famous for being highly skilled, I went for a consultation wanting to hear his opinion on the surgical method. But unlike other hospitals, the director and the manager at Mint gave me honest opinions about the surgery and waited for my decision.
At that time there weren’t many photo reviews from Mint, so I did worry a bit before going ahead with surgery. But I thought it was a big advantage that the hospital system was run thoroughly with the director at the center, that the manager was not the one truly in charge, that they create a nose suited to your own face rather than copying the same nose for everyone, and that they could use local anesthesia and let you check the shape before the surgery ended, so I ultimately decided to go through with it.
My concerns before surgery were a low nose bridge, especially between the brows, a wide nose, and a bulbous nose, and the shape I wanted was something close to natural, elegant but subtle, and close to a straight line.
The surgery included a 3 mm silicone implant for the bridge, septal cartilage for the tip, hump reduction, correction of an arrow nose, long nose, bulbous nose, columella correction, and osteotomy.
During the pre-op consultation, when choosing the silicone for the bridge, I compared 3 mm, 3.5 mm, and 4 mm silicone by actually placing them on my nose. The director said that my nose could look longer and more crooked as the silicone got higher, so he recommended using only a small amount, and I chose 3 mm. At another hospital before that, I had been recommended 1 mm, so as someone who wanted a moderately natural and elegant result, I was satisfied and went into surgery!
For about the first 10 minutes I was under sleep anesthesia, and during the rest of the surgery I was awake under local anesthesia. I had also done my double-eyelid surgery under local anesthesia, so I thought I’d be able to handle it, but it was a little hard. Haha. Especially during the osteotomy, they pressed something like an iron tool against my face and tapped it with a hammer, and I was scared my face would break; the sensation was really strange. Before the surgery ended, they checked the shape, and I asked that the tip not be lifted too much and that the height be a bit higher, and the director reflected that in the result.
Even right after surgery, surprisingly, there was not much swelling, and the next day and the day after that I also didn’t swell much, so I was just waiting eagerly to have the splint removed quickly.
However, I had bruising around the osteotomy area that lasted quite a long time, to the point that the director said it was the first time he had seen this kind of case in 20 or 30 years of surgery... Whenever I contacted them because I was anxious, they replied quickly, recommended an ointment for bruising, and even scheduled in-person follow-up visits to check my progress, so they really did provide proper aftercare...
Around two months later, the bruising had fully gone away, and the slightly upturned tip had also come down a lot, so it looked more natural. I wanted a result that was natural and elegant, something where people close to me would notice that I looked prettier but wouldn’t know exactly what I had done, rather than a nose so natural that no one would even know I had surgery.!!!! And it is exactly that pretty now!!!! Friends and family I hadn’t seen in a while kept saying I had always been this pretty
My family and I were all very worried, so before surgery it was incredibly stressful to look into hospitals and explain everything to people around me... I often thought that if it came to this, I might as well not do it at all. That’s why I only got surgery years after first deciding on it... but now I feel like all the time I spent worrying was wasted! I’m so satisfied, and I’m really proud of myself for making that choice back then!!
The director said that after about 6 months the scar tissue would fade and it would become even slimmer, so I’m looking forward to that. I just hope the nose doesn’t drop any further from here... If my nose changes a lot at the 6-month mark, I’ll come back and write another review. If there’s anything you’re curious about, ask as much as you want!!
