My eyes are hollow, with little flesh around them, thin eyelids, and they’re the kind of eyes I tend to open vaguely because it’s a bit bothersome.
The eyes I wanted were natural-looking, and I wanted to improve the asymmetry that happens when I make a line myself.
[ㅈㅇㅊ] They told me not to call them hollow eyes. They said if I do it now it would look pretty, but later my eyes would become even more, more, more sunken and look strange. They said even if another place tells me to do it together with fat grafting, I shouldn’t. They said my eyes look pretty if I use an eyelash curler, so I don’t need to do it I was really upset because I got turned away by the clinic I had wanted the most.
[ㅇㅎㅅ] I spoke with the consultation manager. They said my eyelids are thin and there’s little fat, so non-incisional buried sutures would be enough. They said my eyes would look prettier if I did it. They said ptosis correction is normally done together with double eyelid surgery, so I should do buried sutures + ptosis correction. Ptosis correction is a set? I had been quite negative about ptosis correction, so I was shocked.
[ㅇㄷㅈ] They recommended full incision + fat grafting + ptosis correction. They said I open my eyes a bit weakly, so ptosis correction is needed, and the purpose of double eyelid surgery is to make the eyelid show, but since my eyes are hollow, if I just do buried sutures, the eyelid won’t show properly, so there would be no point in doing double eyelid surgery. [ㅇㄱㅅ] They coolly said it would loosen over time. I liked that the director spoke honestly. They said both buried sutures and incision are possible, but to just do buried sutures, and if it loosens, get revision surgery each time to make the line again. They said my eye-opening strength is fine, so ptosis correction isn’t necessary. I had reaaally many questions, and they personally looked at my question list and answered each one The director was seriously such a straightforward, cool person...

They said my hollow eyes are progressing quickly for my age, and if I don’t do fat grafting, later I’ll get multiple creases and it will look strange. The shock from ㅇㄷㅈ came again. When I showed reluctance about ptosis correction, they asked whether I had dry eye syndrome. When I said it was severe, they said they would relay that to the director, and that during surgery they would either not do it at all or do only a very small amount after taking that into account. But they said the price doesn’t change even if ptosis correction isn’t done. Pulling the line long toward the back is different from my style. The director and consultation managers were all kind and explained things well. It felt very proactive.
[ㅇㅇㄹㄷ] At first they recommended incision + ptosis correction. Similarly, they said my eye-opening strength is weak, and when touching the eyelid flesh, it doesn’t feel like it sinks in easily, so they recommended incision for fixation strength. When I asked about fat grafting, only then did they say fat grafting might be good. After that, they kept explaining incision + ptosis correction + fat grafting. Huh?
[ㅎㄴ] Consulted with the consultation manager. They recommended partial incision + ptosis correction. They said because my eyes are hollow, buried sutures would loosen quickly, but since my eyelid skin is thin, there’s no need to do a full incision. So, partial incision. And here, for the first time, they said the left eye has weaker opening strength. They said the director would look and adjust the extent of ptosis correction. When I mentioned hollowing of the eyes, they said if it gets worse later with age and bothers me, I should do fat grafting. From the manager’s view, when a line is made, the hollowing also seems to be improved to some extent... It’s famous for being factory-like, so I debated whether to go, but I went because it felt like a waste to cancel the reservation, and the line they drew was my favorite...

[ㅎㄴ] I met the director. After meeting the director, I wanted the surgery even more. When I showed reluctance about ptosis correction, they said it’s better to think of ptosis correction as something that helps the thread holding the double eyelid line withstand things even if it loses strength. It was persuasive. They said there’s no need to do fat grafting at this age, and even if I do partial incision, revision surgery later with age won’t be difficult. When I asked about uneven eyes, they said perfect correction of uneven eyes with double eyelid surgery is difficult. “I’ll try to correct the asymmetry as much as possible” was the answer I wanted, but they didn’t talk about that part, so I’m slightly debating. Other than that, surgical methods like ptosis correction and partial incision are exactly what I want right now, so I wonder if I should do it here even accepting the asymmetry.
[ㅈㅅㅎ] They said ptosis correction isn’t needed, and both buried sutures and incision are possible. They said they personally prefer an in-out line, and when I said I wanted the line lower, they said they would operate with an in-out line close to an inline. They explained in detail. This was the only place that tried making lines on both eyes and then made a line again that corrected the asymmetry. It was the only clinic that precisely pointed out and made a line that corrected the asymmetry, so I liked it quite a lot. But the director’s personal style seemed quite strong, so I’m debating.
[ㅂㅈ] Acquaintances had it done there and it turned out really well, so I visited. The director was confident, and out of the 10 consultations, this one was by faaar the longest. The director prefers crescent-shaped eyes and tries to make it fit that, but they did give me a choice. They recommended ptosis correction + epicanthoplasty (opening at 45 degrees) + incision (while excising sagging skin). Then they showed me what my eyes would look like if I did all of that, and seriously, this was the first clinic where I said, “Oh? That’s pretty...” It really was pretty... But because it’s incision, I’m debating, and if sagging skin is removed, I’m worried that lagophthalmos might occur later when my eyes become more hollow. But it’s so pretty...
So this ended my tour of 9 clinics... If I do it, I think I’ll do it at ㅎㄴ or ㅈㅅㅎ. My impression after visiting 9 places is that you need to keep looking until you feel like you want to go to a certain clinic. That way, I think there will be no regrets. And I want to briefly talk about fat grafting, which put me into confusion. Most directors said fat grafting isn’t necessary at a young age. One director said fat grafting is something to consider only when the eyes are truly so hollow that double eyelid surgery is no longer an answer. So in my opinion, if it’s a first surgery + you’re in your 20s or 30s, there’s no need to do fat grafting from the start. Of course, there may be eyes hollow enough to truly need it. But at this age range, skin elasticity and some remaining fat can hold up to a degree, so I think it’s a surgery that makes you wonder, do I really need it?
