I had double-eyelid surgery with the buried-suture method, and they said I didn’t need ptosis correction, only epicanthoplasty, so that’s what I did.
As more time passed, I started feeling like the lines were uneven.. Since the swelling wasn’t going down anymore, I figured my eyes were just definitely asymmetrical. At first I thought there was nothing I could do, that I was just unlucky, and tried to live with it, but I was still opening my eyes with my forehead, and the epicanthoplasty didn’t have much effect either, so I decided to get revision surgery.
-Consultation: What I wanted most was ★to make my asymmetrical eyes symmetrical and improve the eyelashes poking my eyes★. I went around to several consultations, ranking the places I liked and the places I felt were a bit ambiguous. In the end, I was more drawn to a private clinic that felt relatively well-organized for each patient than a crowded place with many directors and lots of people.
Everyone who has been to a few eye consultations will know, but some places really finish in 5 minutes.. But here, they spent almost over 20 minutes with me and examined me very thoroughly. Other clinics said I absolutely had to redo epicanthoplasty, but here they explained it and left the choice to me. I liked that they gave me options instead of forcing it unconditionally.
-Revision surgery: This time I also had ptosis correction, and I had it done by incision to match the lines. I debated about epicanthoplasty, but since I was going to do it anyway, I thought I might as well redo it too.
Another thing I thought was good about this place was that the aftercare was quite good for eye surgery. Even when removing the stitches, the director removed them personally and checked whether the line was settling well and whether there was anything unusual.. They also did a swelling laser treatment, and I think it worked pretty well for me! I’m the type who finds it bothersome and doesn’t go for walks much, but after the stitches were removed, I could feel the swelling going down quickly.
-Thoughts: Strangely, I have less swelling now after incision surgery than I did when I had the buried-suture method. Recovery is faster too.. I don’t think incision always means swelling up badly and living with bruised, puffy eyes for a month lol. The asymmetry that stressed me out improved, and the eyelashes no longer poke my eyes, so my eyes feel so comfortable.. I should have gotten ptosis correction earlier I still have to wait for the minor swelling to go down more, but I’m relieved because there are already quite a few parts I’m satisfied with.
