Hi hi I'm writing this both for my own reference and to get information from everyone here. I'll list the clinics in the order I visited them. 1) Why I decided on surgery - I have hidden double eyelid lines on both sides. I liked my left eye, but my right eye had a fainter hidden double eyelid and looked a little smaller, so I wanted to raise the hidden line on the right eye a bit. - I have seborrheic dermatitis, and the way my eyes look changes quite a lot depending on my skin condition, which is stressful. My appearance goes back and forth from looking fine to looking bad from day to day, even though my weight stays the same. Does anyone else have the same concern?? Please share solutions and improvements with me. I’ll share mine too! - I decided on surgery with the goal of raising only the hidden double eyelid line on my right eye.
2) Clinic visits
(Clinic / doctor) - First round - 1. ㅇㅇㅂ / ㅅㅇㅎ I went in with information I had scraped together from Kakao Map reviews and my university portal community when I knew absolutely nothing, not even the community forum or the review board. I heard that doctor ㅂㅇㅎ was famous for male eyelid surgery, but I didn’t even know that when I went. It felt like a factory-style clinic, and even the coordinators were young, with that typical factory-style coordinator vibe. When I said I wanted right-eye surgery, they designed a line for me, but it wasn’t the line I wanted. I wanted a non-incisional method, but they said incision was necessary. Incision + ptosis correction / for only one eye / 1,000,000 / no deposit placed
2. ㅇㅇㅌ / ㅈㅇㅇ Also went in knowing nothing I went because I thought I should at least check out Apgujeong. Again, it was not the head doctor but a very young surgeon, and he was extremely kind. Honestly, I went with low expectations and ended up so moved by how kind he was that I put down a deposit on the spot. But I worried because he didn’t have many years in the field. (Only about 2 years after becoming a specialist..?) I liked how kind he was and how he answered every question thoroughly, and I liked the brief explanation he gave about my eyes (He said that because my eyes are sunken rather than protruding, they probably wouldn’t easily loosen even if done with the buried-suture method, etc.)
Non-incisional + ptosis correction / price 600,000 / ended up putting down a deposit for one eye.
3. ㅇㄷㅍ / ㄱㅂㅅ The clinic interior looked luxurious, the reception was kind, the coordinator was kind, foreign patients were visiting, and there was an intelligent-looking professional interpreter on site, so it created a lot of trust even before surgery. You know how those factory-style places, even when they try to decorate nicely, still feel a bit like a franchise? The coordinators also have that Gangnam-beauty vibe, are young, and feel like they might have a few tattoos on their bodies. You know what I mean?? If McDonald’s and Burger King feel like that, this place felt more like Five Guys. They took photos and I waited about 50 minutes..? The coordinator strongly said I would need incision or partial incision. Fortunately, the doctor said buried sutures were possible. +1 trust During the consultation, the doctor said both eyes should be operated on, and he shaped the left eye line in a way I liked. But the right eye looked a bit too artificial to me, so I hesitated a little, but I put down a deposit with same-day reservation conditions. The coordinator said it was extremely cheap and asked me to keep the price confidential, which made me think, wow, that’s a pretty obvious sales tactic. But later another clinic coordinator asked me the price, and when I told them, they were surprised that ㅇㄷㅍ had quoted such a low price. Still, it wasn’t super cheap; if anything, it seemed around the average of other clinics. Buried suture + ptosis correction / both eyes / deposit placed / price between 1 and 2 million
4. ㅍㄹㅁㅇ / ㅈㅇㅈ First well-known name I met Again, after the typical factory-style feel, I had coordinator counseling and then doctor counseling. I think there was a consultation fee of 10,000 won. The consultation was short. They recommended incision, but since I wanted buried sutures, they said they would go with partial incision. The line was higher than I expected and, in my view, a bit too much? I was worried, but with a review-writing condition and same-day reservation discount, they lowered it from 3 million to between 2 million and 2.5 million, so I put down a deposit for now. This was the only clinic where the deposit was not 100% refundable. 90% refundable
- Second round - I found this community, signed up, and gathered a lot of opinions through doctor search posts. I also heard recommendations from an acquaintance who had eyelid surgery.
1. ㅇㅂㅈ ㅇㄱㅁ A well-known doctor for male eyelid surgery A cancellation opened up, so I got lucky and went to a consultation the very next day after calling. Otherwise they said to come in June. It felt relatively less like a franchise. By then, I had picked up tips from everyone here on what to ask during the doctor consultation, so I wrote everything down and brought a list of questions plus a printout of the kind of eyes I wanted and the kind I wanted to avoid. The coordinator said I should show it to the doctor, but I only showed one page of the eyes I wanted to avoid and couldn’t show anything else. As I had heard, there was no excessive pushing, but when I asked a few questions, the doctor sighed... and I felt like I wouldn’t be able to say everything I wanted during pre-op line marking, so I decided this place wasn’t for me. Non-incisional double eyelid surgery + weak ptosis correction if needed during surgery / 1.3 million / both eyes / no reservation placed
2. / ㅂㅈㅇ Visited because they said the doctor was an ophthalmology specialist. Consultation fee 5,000 won It was a consultation time that felt completely worth the fee. Both the coordinator and the doctor spent over 30 minutes on the consultation. Everyone here should definitely visit at least one or two small clinics in addition to the well-known ones, please. I was able to ask everything I had prepared, and I showed all the photos. They clearly told me that because of the characteristics of my eye structure, it would be impossible to keep my current double eyelid line while lifting only the outer end a bit and making it longer. They also said the line I wanted was too low, so it would either not form well or would loosen quickly. They carefully marked a possible non-incisional buried-suture line and honestly told me that, in their opinion, that line looked too artificial, so it might actually be better just to keep my current eyes. It was a truly honest clinic with no aggressive sales, and even the coordinator said surgery didn’t seem absolutely necessary. Partial incision double eyelid surgery on both eyes / I can’t remember the price/
- Third round - 1. ㅇㅇㄷ / ㅊㅈㅎ A place where the entire building is the clinic... I was really surprised. The coordinator was young and had a franchise-like vibe. I met the doctor they recommended. The doctor was also young, and the consultation was kind and fairly detailed. He briefly explained the structure of my current eyes, face shape, left-right asymmetry, etc. I wasn’t hugely satisfied with the line he marked, but it wasn’t bad. Again, he said it would be impossible to keep the line while just slightly raising the outer end and making it longer. I gave up on that idea here. Non-incisional buried suture on both eyes / price 1,000,000? applied with a website event price (I don’t remember exactly) / deposit of 100,000 won placed
2. ㄷㅇㅇ / ㄱㅎㄱ Again, a place where the entire building is the clinic I first met with a male coordinator. I met the doctor they recommended. I didn’t have high expectations, but when he marked the line, I thought, this is it. He marked lines I liked on both eyes. He was also really kind, and every time I asked him to make the line a little higher or a little lower, he smiled and adjusted it. So for the right eye, I had the line marked a little higher, and for the left eye, which I liked, I had it raised just a tiny bit. When I said the line was so pretty and that I liked it, he smiled and said, I’ll do my best, then left. +1 trust I put down a deposit right away. They also said they would do blood tests, so it seemed like a systematic clinic. +1 trust Right now, this seems like the place I’ll go with. But there are hardly any reviews, so if anyone has heard anything or has direct experience, please leave a review?
