First of all, I live in Busan and am from the provinces. Just in case there are people from the provinces considering eye surgery in Busan or nearby, I’m leaving a brief record of the hospitals I visited around 3 years ago for my first double eyelid surgery. (Looking at hospital reviews, it seems things are still mostly the same overall.) The criteria I used to choose hospitals at the time were: 1) A private clinic with one director 2) Lots of experience 3) A hospital that doesn’t make a fuss on apps like ㄱㄴㅇㄴ, ㅂㅂㅌ and doesn’t run events 4) Specializes in eyes or focuses on eye procedures
For reference, as I mention later, I am currently looking into revision surgery, but it’s not because there is an aesthetic or functional problem or because it failed. It’s simply because what I wanted in the past and what I want now don’t match. (Back then, maybe because it was my first surgery, I wanted to go extremely natural and extremely safe so it wouldn’t look like I had surgery, and that’s how I had it done. But now it feels like it doesn’t show enough, so I’m looking into making it a bit more noticeable?)
(1). ㅇㄱㅅ (Director ㅂㅈㅎ) I went there through a recommendation from an acquaintance. It’s located behind the back entrance of Lotte Department Store in Seomyeon. Maybe because it’s an old place, the building and facilities were a bit worn down. A little retro? Or interior that reminded me of an early-2000s McDonald’s(?) The building really stands out.. (yellow exterior walls, kind of like a Lego house? lol) There weren’t many major things that I remember, and I consulted directly with the director without a consultant consultation. The director was kind, and there was no overtreatment or excessive procedure recommendation. A pretty average hospital.
(2). ㅈㅅㅎ (Director ㅈㅅㅎ) Located behind the back entrance of Lotte Department Store in Seomyeon. I went because it had the feeling of a hidden master in Busan. Compared with the other hospitals I had been to, it opened relatively recently (still, in 2013..), so the hospital facilities were modern(?) and clean. The director was moderately kind and explained things in great detail, kind of a professor vibe. The line he designed was fairly pretty too, but it didn’t strongly grab me. Above all, at the time I was pursuing as natural a look as possible, but the director had a pretty strong stance that if you get surgery, it should look like you had surgery(?), so I just had the consultation and left.
(3). ㅇㅎㅅ (Director ㅇㅎㅅ... although I didn’t get to see the director) This is also located behind the back entrance of Lotte Department Store in Seomyeon. I went because word of mouth said it was one of the top places in Busan for eyes. Looking at this community now, it’s a hospital that has been around for a full 30 years ㄷㄷ (opened in 1994) To start with the conclusion, it was the strangest place I’ve visited so far. First, the hospital building itself is an extremely old 3-story building. (At first I thought it was some motel? guesthouse? or something...) They don’t take reservations and do consultations in arrival order. The consultation in question is with the consultant; you can only see the director after scheduling surgery. But even that wasn’t in a consultation room. I sat in front of the desk right by the entrance and had the consultation where everyone could see. (People were coming and going behind me and wind was blowing in..) But 2, the line design was amazing. It was the prettiest line I had that day. But 3, the price was breathtakingly expensive. (Recently, while consulting hospitals in Seoul for revision surgery, almost no place was more expensive than here for the same surgery.) It’s probably the most expensive in Busan.
(4). ㅈㅇㅊ (Director ㅈㅇㅊ) Unusually, it’s near Kyungsung University Station. Like ㅇㅎㅅ, this place also doesn’t take reservations. But there weren’t many people, so I waited briefly and went right in. (No consultant consultation, direct consultation with the director.) But the consultation time was shorter than the waiting time.. As soon as the director saw my eyes, he said, “You don’t need it. Don’t do it in the future either,” explained a few things, and basically kicked me out. Later, looking at reviews, I saw that he’s famous as a double eyelid surgery detector... But he didn’t properly explain in a convincing way exactly by what criteria I didn’t need it or shouldn’t do it, so I felt a bit puzzled and not great. Still, he seems to definitely have experience and skill, so I think it may be worth going once for a double eyelid surgery screening, and he probably does well for people who pass.
(5). ㅇㄷㅈ (Director ㅇㄷㅈ) Located near Judies Taehwa on Seomyeon Youth Street. Among the hospitals I visited, it was the smallest, but the interior was more modern and clean than the others. Interestingly, there is no consultation manager here at all. The director even explains the cost... (But no negotiation or events.) And among all the hospitals I visited, I felt the director was the most unusual. His way of speaking had no intonation at all, but when I asked something, he explained smoothly and endlessly, like flowing water, which felt exactly like AI and was fascinating.. It was that feeling where you can’t really discuss whether he is kind or unkind... But he had a lot of career experience and practical experience (they say he originated the two-line excision surgical method), and his extremely safety-oriented + extremely natural approach matched exactly what I wanted at the time, so I had my first surgery here. Objectively, the surgery itself turned out fine, and when I went back six months later because the inner front line of one eye bothered me a little, he did the after-service right away. For reference, the cost was the second highest after ㅇㅎㅅ. This place also seems quite expensive for Busan.
