I saw double-eyelid tape stuck to my elementary-school-age younger sibling’s pants as they were about to go to school, and thought this really could not go on, so I decided on double eyelid surgery.
Since I had already planned to let them get it done after graduating high school anyway, I added to the knowledge I had gathered here and there whenever I had time and started searching seriously. I was worried it might be too early an age, but during the consultation even a conservative doctor said that around high school age is not a problem.
■ Condition before double eyelid surgery
They opened their eyes using the forehead and had eyes with a lot of fat. I worried much more than I did for my own surgery^^ No matter how much I narrowed it down, I still had a list of 10 clinics, so I went for the first consultation at places where reservations were available during the period I wanted. Searching is important, but in the end it is legwork~ I have a very comparative and meticulous personality,
Even if they say the same things, there is a place where somehow you feel like you should do it there, you can trust them, and the rest may just not be your fate. So I proceeded at the place I chose. First, assuming the doctor is skilled (an important premise!), for possible A/S and for my satisfaction living with my own face, I think communication is important.
The doctor I chose was that kind of person. I proceeded with Director ㄹㅋ ㅈㅁㅅ, who has been famous for eyes since ㅈㅇㅈㅇ.
During the consultation, they listened to both my child’s and my opinions, explained things well, and very carefully designed the line. On the day of surgery too, in the operating room, they reassured my very scared child and carried out the surgery so well (There was also a place during consultation that would not listen to us at all and scolded us as if asking whether we were doubting them. That place was also very~~ famous.. sigh....)
The places we consulted all recommended epicanthoplasty, ptosis correction, and incisional double eyelid surgery. I was also thinking of epicanthoplasty, ptosis correction, and incision, so we proceeded that way.
The result is extremely satisfying. When they came out of the operating room, the line was so pretty. On the way home it gradually swelled and bruising appeared, and it seemed pretty severe until days 2~3.
Even though I myself have incisional double eyelids and know that time is needed, I felt nervous every day looking at my child’s eyes. What if they become sausage-like.. what if there is severe scar tissue.. what if it looks too obvious they had double eyelid surgery, etc.
Around one month, there was still a slight sausage-like feeling, but truly like magic, after a month the swelling went down much more quickly and it became natural, and the incision line is also becoming natural.
Most of all, I think it harmonizes very well with the face, and overall the facial features look clearer too.
The photos were taken a little over one month after surgery, and in the photos the eyes may look a little uneven, but I think it is due to the camera direction and facial expression. The balance of both eyes is good, and they turned out really natural.
The strength of opening the eyes has also become more comfortable, and although the habit of opening with the forehead still remained, these days I do not see it. The pupils look so sparkling that I wonder if they were always this pretty^^ These are eyes without contact lenses.
The shape and opening strength of both eyes were different, so all the places we consulted said they were eyes with surgical difficulty, but the doctor did such a good job.
These days I can see my child’s self-esteem increasing, so I think I should have done it earlier!
Oh! I also noticed that many posts uploaded as reviews use photos that have been retouched or taken after enough time has passed for swelling to go down. Especially for those who had incisional surgery.. I don’t think you need to be too anxious comparing yourself with those photos!
