After being diagnosed at a plastic surgery clinic as needing short-chin surgery, this was my second oral and maxillofacial surgery consultation.
After registration, imaging was done for the examination.
The equipment looked similar.
The X-ray and CT imaging equipment were similar models.
But additionally, they took very detailed photos with a camera using a 70 mm telephoto lens at f/2.8.
They used a mouth opener to keep my mouth open and photographed the dental occlusion pattern,
and also used 3D scanner equipment to capture my three-dimensional facial shape.
And
I hadn’t expected it while lying in the dental chair, but they took dental impressions too.
They put a tray that smelled like a balloon into my mouth, took the impression, then completed a plaster model of my mouth shape, and I actually saw it.
My undernourished-looking teeth came out haha. It looked even weirder than in real life.
After that, I went to the director’s office on the 2nd floor and had the consultation.
Ultimately, what was different between the photos and examination results taken here and the previous oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic was that the analysis software tool was different.
There was a feature that overlaid the teeth, face, and bones to show how the facial proportions were distorted.
For the 3D facial bones, the transparency could be adjusted, and he showed in detail the possible length and shape with orthodontic treatment and jaw surgery.
He asked about the diagnosis from the previous place I visited and said it seemed correct. He said this was Class II malocclusion, but not severe, and there was also a little facial asymmetry.
It was that kind of ambiguous face haha.
And there is one impacted tooth visible in the facial bone above the philtrum. If you look at the photo, the dark area above the teeth is the impacted tooth.
In the lower jaw, the wisdom teeth are lying sideways on both the left and right.
He said that since they haven’t hurt so far, there’s no problem.
Regarding surgery, he said that in an average male jaw, the jaw and forehead line are usually within about 2 mm of being parallel,
but my jaw is recessed inward by 8.96 mm, so it folds in by almost about 7 mm, and the soft tissue at the front of the chin rolls inward together, creating wrinkles.
He said that since the upper jaw is normal, the shape can be adjusted with orthodontic treatment and mandibular advancement surgery can be performed.
He also said they could do facial contouring and the chin tip, so it was a very detailed consultation.
Consultation completed.
I then had a surgery-cost consultation with the manager.
Orthodontic treatment: 350/400/450 depending on prosthetic material, no monthly treatment fee, no removal fee. Surgery: mandibular advancement surgery, asymmetry + contour trimming 800 / cash-receipt discount 780, VAT not included.
Plate/screw removal surgery: 200 if removed within 3 years, 300 after that (50 discount when writing a surgery review), 150.
Total for male short-chin surgery, orthodontic treatment, and facial contouring: 1,130

The examination was detailed, and they gave me a lot of insight into my current situation and the parts that could be improved through surgery going forward,
so it was helpful.
If I hadn’t booked another hospital, I might have decided before the consultation.
