It’s been 6 weeks since my cheekbone surgery. It’s a surgery I had wanted since high school, but I kept only thinking about it and finally got it done in my mid-20s.
It was my first time having general anesthesia, and when I woke up, I felt so nauseous that it was hard. For the few hours I was lying in the hospital, I kept throwing up... This was harder than having my cheekbones cut ㅋㅋㅋ After about 3 days, it got better, but until then I barely survived on vegetable juice.
I live outside Seoul, and after surgery I was planning to take an express bus right back home. But I think that’s absolutely impossible. In the end, I slept at a friend’s place in Seoul. If any of you live outside Seoul and have surgery plans, apply for something like a hospital-affiliated hotel. They said they even provide a car ride, but I didn’t know that existed at allㅠㅠ I found out after all the surgery was over by reading someone else’s review.
At one month, most of the major swelling was gone, and I can eat well too. I had the surgery without telling my parents, and they didn’t know I had surgery. My dad said it looked like my eyes got bigger, so I was startled for a moment ㅋㅋ
It used to stress me out every time I looked in the mirror, so more than becoming prettier, I like that my mind feels at ease now. My facial line used to look masculine, but it’s much softer now, so I’m satisfied.
The bone is still healing and sensation is still returning, so I think I’ll need to keep watching the progress.
