I have a thin natural inner double eyelid, and as I’ve gotten older my eyes look stuffy, and it feels like I’m opening my eyes with my eyebrows and forehead, so I finally thought, “I really need to do it now,” and spent two days going all the way to Busan for in-person consultations.
I didn’t know anything and just roughly looked up places that were famous online, made appointments, and went (I didn’t even know brokers existed).
ㄷㅍㅇㅅ - Made an appointment. Long wait. Didn’t see the director. Consultation with the consultant. The consultant was kind.
Sㅂㅌ - No appointment. I had time left, so I visited a place an acquaintance had gone to. No wait, went straight to director > consultant consultation. They explained things well, and the director seemed very confident.
ㅎㄴ - Made an appointment. Long wait. Didn’t see the director. Consultation with the consultant. They were kind, but they never once held my eye shape while looking in the mirror.
ㅍㅅㅈ - Made an appointment. There is a consultation fee. Consultant > director > consultant. Kind. I was tired from going around since the morning, so I ended up leaving without asking as many questions as I should have for the money I paid. To the point where the director asked if I’m usually that quiet
ㅈㅇㅅㅌ - Made an appointment. The previous surgery ended late, so I waited a little. Director > consultant. Kind. Explained things well. This was the only place that told me my eyes were asymmetrical. So I got even more confused.
ㅋㅇㅇㅈ - Made an appointment. Waited a little. Consultant > director > consultant. Rather than kind, it strongly felt like they were being cautious/guarded. After the director said just a few words, they gave me the vibe that I should leave. It didn’t feel satisfying. It was one of the places I had high expectations for, but I felt upset. This was the only place that recommended partial incision.
ㄱㄹㄹ - Made an appointment. Waited a little. Director > consultant. Explained things well. Almost all of them commonly recommended incision + ptosis correction, and the line seemed to be divided between inline and in-out. The cost differed by about +- 500,000 KRW depending on the hospital, and since it was around the average amount I had expected, there wasn’t a huge difference.
Even after doing this much online research and in-person visits, there wasn’t anywhere I felt 100% certain about, but I couldn’t keep delaying the decision, so I made a reservation at one of the two places I trusted about 80%. Going around for consultations is physically tiring and draining, so I’m writing this for reference.
