Before <I swelled up like a dog stung by a bee> Before <My mouth won’t close> Before <They put wet gauze on my mouth so it wouldn’t dry out> Before <How am I supposed to peel all this off?> These are my impressions from waking up after surgery until the next morning.
Before explaining, I had two procedures: cheekbone reduction + square jaw surgery, and I also had cortical bone shaving.
3/29 9:30 a.m. visit ~ 3/30 10:20 a.m. discharge
1. When I woke up It hurt so much and I was cold. It felt like my face had been beaten with a pork cutlet mallet, and like all my natural teeth had been pulled out. I was shivering from the cold, and my face hurt so much I felt like I was going to die, so tears kept coming. It hurt so much and I regretted it so much that if I could go back, I would think about not doing it.
2. The first time going to the bathroom I went with a staff member supporting me, but I felt so nauseous and my head hurt like it was going to split. I definitely went after holding it in because I really needed to pee, but urine wouldn’t come out well, so I was flustered.. I sat there for a few minutes trying to force it, but only a little came out and that was it..? Huh..? This has gotten better than right after surgery, but it’s still like that even now.
3. When sleeping Even if it hurts so much you can’t sleep, you have to force yourself to fall asleep. Otherwise, you’ll experience hell. While sleeping, my nose was blocked, my throat hurt, and phlegm came out. But because it hurt so much, those things were nothing. And I fell asleep without knowing what would happen to me from then on…
4. Removing the drains and dressing While doing this, I just wanted to die. I briefly thought it felt comfortable after taking off the compression bandage, but that lasted only a moment before hell began Removing the drains hurt too, but when they said they were removing pooled blood from the incision sites inside my mouth and kept squashing my face, it hurt so much that I started speaking informally without thinking. I don’t know why, but blisters had formed at the corners where both cheeks were taped, and during the process of squeezing out blood, the blister on the left burst. It really hurt so much I wanted to swear, and I regretted why I had done this Even now, parts of my face still sting and hurt. I also peeled the tape off a little, and wow.. how am I supposed to remove all of this? Isn’t my skin going to come off with it..? I’m so scared..
It was a choice I made after thinking about it for a really long time, but it was so painful and scary. Honestly, I’m still so scared now. Not because of side effects, but because of the pain큐 I hope anyone who wants surgery thinks carefully about it. If it doesn’t interfere with your life, I don’t think this is a surgery worth going through this much suffering for. If I could go back to the past, I think I’d choose not to do it
Anyway, thank you for reading this long post, and I’ll keep posting occasionally. I hope everyone doesn’t get too stressed because of their appearance, and I also hope people avoid thinking lightly about surgery with nonsense like “it’s for self-satisfaction” or whatever. Let’s use that money to travel abroad instead! Our bodies are precious, after all.
