I had also been receiving procedures at this clinic since 2021. However, starting in December 2023, I suddenly got burns 3 times in a row. I assume that because it is lifetime hair removal, they perform the procedure at a stronger setting than other places. After a lot of thought, I am disclosing this for the public interest.
On December 22, 2023, I received a procedure from Director ㅈㅎㅈ and got a second-degree burn on my genitals. On December 26, 2023, the director said it was not an issue with my shaving and that these problems sometimes occur. This is a reasonable statement because if there is a shaving issue or a wound in the first place, the relevant area should be excluded before starting the procedure. They told me not to worry because it was a mucous membrane area and would heal quickly. Since the area was the genitals and the diagnosing doctor at the burn specialty hospital was male, even visiting the hospital was mentally difficult. On January 22, 2024, I received a procedure from another director at the same clinic, Director ㄱㅎㅈ. They said there was no problem with the Brazilian area and that I could receive the procedure, so I did, but a burn occurred again, though mildly. However, they did not acknowledge this part. Even my hairline hair was burned. I was also extremely busy at the time, so it was difficult to visit the hospital, and whether it healed or not, I decided to take a break from Brazilian procedures. The director is denying the burn, but the clinic agreed to provide back hair removal until I was satisfied and provide 2 million won in benefits for this damage. (We wrote a mutual cooperation agreement regarding this, but the clinic violated these terms first.) On February 23, 2024, I got a second-degree burn from back hair removal, which was an additional benefit they had agreed to provide. The burn specialty hospital wrote a medical certificate diagnosing it as a second-degree burn, but Director ㅈㅎㅈ is claiming it is a scab caused by acne and that it depends on the person looking at it. A medical certificate is not something subjective that differs depending on who looks at it. This clinic is not acknowledging the damage that occurred to a customer. Also, burns occurred "3 times" in a row, and although all 3 are presumed to be second-degree burns, 2 of them are very clearly second-degree burns. Lifetime hair removal is a good service, but even skin like mine, which had no problems and does not even sting from vitamin C, can develop problems. So when receiving the procedure, please get hair removal at a low intensity, take photos of the hair removal area before the procedure, and record the entire procedure so that your request to make it low intensity is included in the recording. Also, please make sure to secure an audio recording that there is no problem with shaving and that there are currently no scratched areas on the skin. Even without obtaining consent, a recording that includes your own voice is not an issue, and if you do not clearly secure these matters, you may not be able to protect your rights later, so please be careful. If you happen to get a burn, unless it is on the genitals, please go straight to a burn specialty hospital and secure a medical certificate. They told me their own doctor had to see it first, but I recommend that you just absolutely go to a burn specialty hospital first.
