I’ll post a nose + eye review!
This is my first review post, so it’s a bit all over the place, but I’m posting it in case it helps as a record + gives information to anyone who needs it!
Surgery was on Tuesday, 8/8, at 10 a.m. as the first appointment,
For the eyes, I had incisional double eyelid surgery + ptosis correction / for the nose, I had silicone + septal cartilage + donated rib cartilage used!
Day of surgery (+ first day)
: First of all, my whole body felt feverish. When I asked the hospital, they said you can get a fever even on the day of surgery. Even after taking the prescribed medicine, the fever wouldn’t go down, so I took 2 more Tylenol tablets.
(I have a tolerance to Tylenol, so I usually take 2 tablets even in daily life)
My eyes had scabs and tears were streaming out. They came out mixed with blood. Other than the tears constantly running and swelling, I didn’t really have any particular discomfort.
My nose was blocked by the packing, so I couldn’t breathe at all. I kept breathing through my mouth, so I was constantly thirsty. I couldn’t suck water through a straw, so I poured small amounts into a paper cup and drank that way.
Because my nose was completely blocked, every time I swallowed water there was pressure and my ears felt clogged.
Other than having a fever and feeling drained from the anesthesia, the first day didn’t seem to have any major problems! I thought, “This is surgery cutting open healthy flesh, and if it only hurts this much, is that okay?”
Second day
: This was really the hardest day.
The fever kept going, the swelling in my eyes was at its peak so I could barely see, and my nose was so stuffy that blood kept pouring out, soaking all the gauze..
The hospital I went to said they could remove the nasal packing on day 2, so I went in, but because there had been quite a bit of bleeding from my nose that morning, they said to watch it one more day for safety and remove it later, so I couldn’t have the packing removed on day 2 and decided to have it removed on day 3
Personally, day 2 was the hardest
The fever kept making me feel sick, the swelling was so severe, and I couldn’t even open my mouth properly so I couldn’t eat well at all, and it didn’t even feel like I was living like a person, I kept thinking what kind of luxury and glory I was chasing by doing this I seriously regretted it....
Third day
: The swelling in my eyes went down a little, and blue bruising appeared under my eyes while the under-eye swelling started to puff up.
Still, the swelling from the double eyelid surgery got a little better, so it became a bit easier to open my eyes.
But then my nose started to hurt. Since they couldn’t remove the packing and it was day 3, the nose gradually moved past being uncomfortable and started hurting. All I wanted was to go to the hospital quickly and have the packing removed.
I finally went to the hospital and had the packing removed, and the relief was bigger than the pain! Removing it did hurt, so it’s not like it was painless, but it was maybe only enough to make me tear up a little? But the relief was amazing
I could breathe right away, and it really was one of those moments that makes you grateful to breathe through your nose But after the packing came out, blood + nasal discharge kept flowing out, so I had to carry tissues around
Fourth day
: From this point on, I finally started to feel somewhat human again. I could open my eyes to some extent, the nasal discharge had lessened, and breathing was easier, so it was really comfortable.
I could move my upper lip freely, so I could eat fairly normally, and if I showered slowly without splashing water, bathing was possible too.
However, the swelling in my face got bigger and spread wider. It went down to my cheeks, so it felt like I had candy in my mouth.
Recovery reviews vary a lot from person to person, but by around day 4, I wasn’t bleeding anymore, my condition improved, and daily life became possible for me!
Until then, I was so miserable that I regretted it to the point of thinking, did I really have to do this surgery..? But once it became bearable, I was so glad I did it Humans can be so fickle
My face is still super swollen, but I really like the double eyelid line, and the nose still has a splint and swelling so I can’t tell clearly yet, but my nose before was so low and upturned that I really like this nose too!! I’m waiting for the swelling to go down so it gets even prettier
