Before <before surgery>Before <before surgery>Before <before surgery>After <1 month after surgery>After <1 month after surgery>After <1 month after surgery>After <1 month after surgery>After <1 month after surgery>< Why I decided to get nose surgery > -I originally had a protruding mouth complex, so I was thinking about double-jaw surgery or orthodontic treatment, but my teeth were in decent condition for braces, and double-jaw surgery scared me too much. I heard that raising the nose can make the mouth look more recessed, so I went for a nose surgery consultation.
< Nose surgery information > - I had a bulbous nose and a hump, so I wanted to correct both and also reduce the nostril wings, but the director said correction was possible without going as far as alar reduction. For the hump, we decided to slightly shave it down without osteotomy and then place silicone over it. I also said I was concerned that my mouth looked protruded, and they said it looked even more protruded because I have a retruded chin. They said nose surgery alone could improve it enough, but if I wanted a more dramatic effect, there was also retruded-chin filler, so I could consider it. Honestly, I decided on nose surgery because of my protruding mouth, so I decided to get retruded-chin filler together without much hesitation.
< Before surgery > - I had gotten filler a long time ago. It had been so long that I had forgotten I had filler. A week before surgery, I thought I needed to remove the filler, so I asked the clinic, and fortunately they said it was possible even on the day itself, so we decided to dissolve it on the surgery day and proceed with surgery.
< Surgery day > -Before going into the operating room, the director explained the nose materials and how today’s surgery would proceed. After that, I washed my face, rinsed my mouth with mouthwash, and went into the operating room. I was worried the anesthesia might not work, but when I opened my eyes, the surgery was over. I had heard a lot that nose surgery hurts, so I was scared, but it didn’t hurt, and I think I was just dazed. I listened to the precautions from the consultant, and since there was an anti-inflammatory spray at the clinic and I needed it anyway, I bought it and went home.
< 1 day after surgery > -I have a habit of sleeping on my side, so I was worried pressure might be applied to one side of my nose, so I put a back cushion behind me and slept sitting up. I think waking up every 10 minutes was really hard. I woke up in the morning, visited the clinic for disinfection, received swelling care, and came home.
< 3 days after surgery > -Walking helped reduce swelling more than cold compresses. When I looked in the mirror, it didn’t seem like there was much swelling, but definitely after walking, I looked like a different person in the morning and evening. I got excited and walked 20,000 steps a day.
< 7 days after surgery > -I went to the clinic to remove the splint. I had been so curious about what my nose looked like, and when the splint came off and I looked in the mirror, I found myself smiling without realizing it. The changed look felt unfamiliar, but once my nose was clearly higher, my mouth also looked more recessed. Before, when I looked at my face, only my mouth stood out, but now my features seemed to harmonize well, so I think I liked it.
< 1 month after surgery > - I visited the clinic for a progress check, and the director said a lot of the swelling had gone down and that it would continue to go down more. I could definitely see my nose gradually settling into place too. Since the nose balances the center, I think it also has the effect of making my face look smaller. It was my first cosmetic surgery, so I had a lot of worries, but I’m satisfied because I think it turned out well.
* For reference, everyone, make sure to prepare a humidifier. I didn’t use one because I wasn’t confident I could change the water every day, but since I kept breathing only through my mouth, my mouth and throat got extremely dry. I overcame my laziness and turned on the humidifier, and that day I slept deeply for 14 hours.
