Before<after surgery> Before<before surgery>The reason I decided to have surgery was that when I took photos, my side cheekbones stood out, so I was not satisfied with my front-facing photos. Also, on a recommendation from someone I know who had surgery recently, I started looking into hospitals.
Since I honestly knew nothing about the surgery, I searched around and ended up going to the hospital here with the highest rating on this community.
As I had seen on YouTube, the director was kind and answered every question I had. (I showed celebrity faces and asked, “How do you make a face like this?” I asked for the director’s opinion, and also asked about the ladder osteotomy method that other hospitals have been using recently, how much improvement is possible through surgery, and so on.)
He answered all my questions so well that every single doubt was completely cleared up. I had two long consultations before surgery, and even though he was busy, he treated me so kindly that even now, after the surgery is over, I am always grateful.
In addition, the hospital manager was especially considerate when I had to move my schedule up urgently, which helped me a lot because I was able to get surgery quickly. Each staff member is kind, and honestly it feels like a family atmosphere you do not often see at large hospitals. Before coming to this hospital, I think I consulted at least 8 to 10 places, and I am certain this is the hospital with the best atmosphere.
****When choosing a hospital, I think the most important thing is the director’s experience. As far as I know, the current director has done contouring surgery only for more than 20 years. Currently he does aesthetic plastic surgery, but I understand that after graduating from Seoul National University College of Medicine and becoming a board-certified plastic surgeon, he did reconstructive plastic surgery at Seoul National University Hospital and then switched to aesthetic surgery because that was his goal. Personally, people who have done reconstructive surgery gave me a better impression because they seem stable, not just skilled in aesthetics.
What left a strong impression on me personally was that contouring surgery has been done across two generations, starting with the director’s father. I understand that he was the first to publish a paper on contouring surgery for East Asians a long time ago (more precisely, zygoma reduction surgery). He also contributed as the first Korean to an authoritative overseas plastic surgery journal, and I know he was active as one of the first generation of contouring surgery specialists.
****Seeing this background, I felt there was no need to hesitate any longer, so I decided to have the surgery.
Because I had prominent side cheekbones, I asked for the surgery to reduce them as much as possible. For the square jaw, I asked to make it as moderate as possible, in proportion to the cheekbone reduction. For the chin, since the bone above the eyebrows was prominent, they said it would be better to design it in a way that preserves it, so that was the plan.
If I had a small head shape like many women do, I think the effect of the surgery would have been much more dramatic, which is a little disappointing. In fact, I am even worried that posting a review might be rude to the hospital. I think if someone with a small head shape or a woman had it done, the effect would be even more dramatic.
There are so many beautiful and handsome people in the reviews that I honestly feel a little shy about posting mine, but personally I am satisfied because it improved naturally. I am glad it turned out naturally.
