Time really flies. It feels like just yesterday I was worried about bruising and swelling after the removal surgery and worried about the contracture period, but already 1 year and 2 months have passed-
I didn’t have any major side effects, and I had it removed because of the foreign-body sensation and anxiety, so I worried a lot that I might feel a big sense of loss after surgery, and I looked up many reviews from 1-2 years after removal. I was curious what it would feel like once the nose settled to some extent. But there were hardly any 1-2 year reviews.. So I’m leaving mine in case it helps others.
First, to start with the conclusion, I’m living satisfied. (The detailed surgery content is in my previous post.) First of all, I’m realizing how happy life is without silicone pressure or a foreign-body sensation, and I really like that there are no restrictions now, no matter what exercise or outdoor activity I do. (I even used to worry when getting skin care or massages, in case pressure was applied to my nose or a problem occurred haha That was probably even more so because I’m sensitive.)
Still, I don’t think there can be absolutely no sense of loss. Of course my nasal bridge became lower, and I returned to my former gentle-looking image. Actually, even around the 1-year mark, I had no complaints. I expected the nose to become lower, and interestingly, for about a year it felt slightly higher overall than my original nose. My family even joked that it looked better now than both my original nose and my surgically enhanced nose lol (I wondered if this was the “third nose” people mention in various reviews.) But starting exactly last month, my nasal bridge kept getting subtly lower, and now it’s almost similar to my original nose. I remember seeing a review before saying the shape keeps changing even after 1 year, so I’m thinking maybe I’m one of those cases too.
Oh, and because the skin stretched by the amount of space where the silicone had been, many wrinkles form on my nose when I smile. You might think it’s nothing, but when I take photos, it bothers me quite a bit.
If the nose shape changes again and becomes wider and flatter than it is now, I don’t know how my thoughts might change, but for now I think I gained more than I lost. For me, the moments when I stayed up all night worrying about side effects were the hardest. No matter how pretty I became, if I couldn’t be free from that worry, I don’t think I would be happy, so these days I’m renewing my mindset in many ways haha
For those who are worried that the sense of loss may be big, I want to say that you should think carefully, based on your own standards, about what you will gain and lose after removal, and whether it’s removal or revision surgery, decide on the direction that suits you best.
