I wrote about this before too, but it’s been 3 years since I had silicone + septal cartilage surgery, and other than feeling a foreign-body sensation, I have no problems. Even that foreign-body sensation is probably 90% just in my head;
I watched a friend I see almost every day struggle after developing contracture, and ever since then, every single day has felt so anxious. For a while, I even kept dreaming that my nose was collapsing whenever I dreamed. Maybe I’m being dramatic and sensitive, but I just don’t want to live carrying this kind of psychological anxiety.
- ㄱㅇㅅ Full removal possible / closed approach / capsule removal I was worried because consultation reviews for this hospital seem pretty divided, but for me it wasn’t bad. Hmm... actually, it was on the good side. But he really feels just like a teacher. If you ask something, he does answer well, but if he thinks you’re asking something unnecessary, it feels like you’re being lectured.
- ㅅㅅㅇ Full removal possible / closed approach / no mention of capsule removal But it was kind of like, “Do you really have to remove it?” I had heard a lot that they specialize in removal, so I thought if I said I was anxious, they would definitely recommend removal, but that wasn’t the case. The nasal tip feels slightly drooped, and compared with the bridge it does look a bit low, but he said I don’t really have to remove it. Still, if I want to, it’s fine to do it. I understand what people mean when they say it feels like they don’t give certainty, but in a way, the choice is ultimately mine anyway... He explained everything in a lot of detail.
- ㅍㄹㅁ Full removal possible / closed approach / capsule removal not necessary The palpation here is really thorough. After feeling it, he correctly guessed how many millimeters of silicone were inserted and what material was used for the nasal tip. He said if the psychological anxiety is severe, I should remove it. He asked me to show photos of my original nose, so I showed him, and he asked if I had surgery because I just wanted the nasal tip to be slightly more defined. He said there wasn’t a big change, so it didn’t seem necessary to endure the anxiety. But he also said it would be okay to just live with it. He told me not to decide immediately whether to have surgery, but to think carefully and then decide.
Before going to the consultations, I had been thinking of visiting other places besides the big three afterward, but if I do go through with it, I think I’ll choose one of these three.
Is there anyone here who had removal out of anxiety even though there was no actual problem, like me? Did you regret removing it? Right now I feel like I won’t regret it, but I don’t know how I’ll feel later...
