The reason I decided to have surgery was that my upturned outer eye corners had been bothering me for a while, and I wanted to lower the outer corners and have a slightly gentler, puppy-like look, so I decided to undergo surgery.
When I first went in for a consultation, the consultant and the director were really kind, and they explained things like the surgical method well. To say it again, the consultant and director were very, very kind, and I felt good because I thought I received the kind of consultation I had wanted.
When I visited the hospital on the day of surgery, there were 3-4 people at the reception desk, and they were having too many private conversations among themselves, laughing and chatting. Honestly, I wondered if that was okay. I got the impression they had not been working there for very long.
On the day of surgery, I had one more consultation with the consultant and the director about precautions and so on. The director kept telling me he would make it look pretty, so I was very grateful.
When I had lateral canthoplasty and lowering canthoplasty, I also had surgery for entropion. After surgery, all the objects in front of my eyes looked tilted, and I felt dizzy. After resting briefly in the recovery room, it got a little better. The person who came to get me from the recovery room felt like they only showed me the way without supporting me, so it was a bit difficult when I was dizzy and couldn’t see well.
Until the day of surgery, it was just uncomfortable and my eyes hurt, but from day 1, my eyes became so swollen that my lower eyelashes stuck to my eyeballs, and it hurt, stung, and was very uncomfortable. Then around day 3, my left eye suddenly became blurry and I couldn’t see in front of me, so I checked and blood was pouring out. It wasn’t just a little blood or bloody discharge; bright red blood flowed all the way down below my chin, and it burst out 3-4 times. I thought the surgery might have gone wrong, and it was so uncomfortable and stressful to see that much bleeding. I was worried something might go wrong, so I contacted the consultant, and she told me there was no particular problem. I’m currently on day 9, and when the first and second rounds of stitches were removed, it really hurt for me. After even the second-round stitches were removed, it does feel refreshing, though. The conjunctival edema in my left eye is still quite severe, and there is almost no swelling on the right. They say it improves a lot after the second-round stitches are removed, so I think I need to keep waiting. I want the swelling to go down quickly and to see my eyes clearly changed.
I had thought from before that I absolutely had to do it at Girin, so I didn’t spend time going around for in-person consultations or researching other places online. Girin’s lateral and lowering canthoplasty is that famous, and the eye shape came out in my style, so I really wanted to do it at Girin. The most important reason was that the surgical method is different, so it doesn’t reattach.
