To start with the conclusion, my nose returned well to my original nose. (My bridge was low, my columella was short, and my nostrils/alar base were wide hehe)
Back in August 2015 (7 years ago), in my early 20s, without thinking much, I went to a large hospital and just asked them to make my nose higher, had surgery, and lived satisfied for a year. But gradually my nose started to feel tight, so I went back to that hospital, got a prescription for Rizaben, and after taking it for 3 months it got better. So I lived for 6 years without really paying attention, but one day I noticed the silicone had also shifted to the right, and the tip of my nose felt like it was cut off;;
I knew there was a problem with my nose, but I was scared at the thought of having another nose surgery, so I just left it alone. Now I have to get married and have a baby too, so I thought, let’s face the problem and look into hospitals! Starting with absolutely no information was really hard and mentally exhausting. I cried a lot, and even when something happy happened, I was only happy for a moment, then became depressed again. It felt like my precious youth was rotting away.
At first, I thought simply: I’ll remove the silicone and just have the tip touched up again! But the more I researched, the more information I gathered, and the direction my surgery needed to take became clear! (※ I live outside Seoul, but I went to consultations at 10 hospitals in Seoul. What I felt during consultations was that the surgical method changes more according to the director’s preferred surgical method and style than according to the patient’s nose condition. In other words, you need to go to many consultations, decide for yourself what surgery fits you, and find a highly skilled director who pursues that type of surgery!)
o Surgical method: removal surgery, not revision surgery!! Silicone removal + removal of capsule and scar tissue + removal of Medpor (support strut) o Reason: I never wanted to live anxiously because of side effects again!
After the surgery I wanted became clear, I went looking for a director who was good at complete removal... Because I had severe contracture, the capsule and scar tissue that caused the contracture had to be removed well. So I compared each director’s photos of capsule removal and their results, then chose a director who removed capsules and scar tissue well and had surgery.
The surgery was done under local anesthesia + sedation (10 minutes?), so at first I was honestly really scared, but in the end, although it was hard at the time, it was better than having surgery under 3 hours of sedation. It was the most painful surgery of my life... I could never do it againㅠ It wasn’t extremely painful, but it was truly distressing. After the 3-hour surgery, I looked at my nose, and my nostrils had come down well, so peace came to my mind. When I saw the removed materials, it was truly horrifying and also relieving. I had seen so many removal photos, but I think my capsule was the thickest, and the Medpor was almost half the size of the siliconeㅡㅡ I want to curse that damn doctor, I’m shaking with anger.
Anyway, I had the nasal packing taken out and the splint removed too.... It looked crushed? like clay that had been punched. But then when I looked at the bridge from the side, I thought, oh~ it’s pretty? hehe I don’t know if it was because of the splint or what, but for a while the bridge looked pressed down, so I wondered if it would really settle into place. After about 2 weeks, maybe the tissue filled in or the swelling went down, but the bridge normalized :) Phew
Exactly 42 days after surgery, I’m at the stage where the contraction phase is passing. It feels like the very end of the contraction phase. It’s summer, so I have many chances to swim, but after swimming my nose hurtsㅠㅠ They say swimming is possible after one month, but I’m anxious... I should be careful
o Advantages after removal - I feel less anxious than when there was something in there, whether silicone or my cartilage. - I get less nasal sebum. - The contracture is gone, so my nose has become natural. - My face and nose are balanced. - I gained a gentle image, but lost sophistication lol - My nose has become comfortable. - My small, plump nose is just cuteㅠㅠㅠ
★Contracture medication tip Contracture medication ingredient: montelukast sodium 10 mg A plastic surgery clinic prescription is not covered by insurance, so one month’s worth is about 90,000 won If you get it prescribed at a general internal medicine clinic, one month’s worth is 10,000 won!!!!
Just in case, at first I bought the medication with the prescription I received from the plastic surgery clinic, and from then on I’ve been getting it prescribed by an internal medicine clinic and taking the contracture medication :) Everyone, look into it carefully and save even a little money!!! ><
<Sudden ending> Because of nose surgery side effects, I dare say I lived in hell. The feeling of seeing a bad review while choosing a hospital and looking for a director, and feeling like I was back at square one... I had to feel despair again, and I even wondered if this was what a panic attack felt like. At times like that, you have to steel your mind and not become weak. Everything is something I have to bear, and it is lonely, but it is something I have to overcome. Absolutely no one can do it for me. Even if it is hard right now and you feel like you want to die, everyone, please overcome it! I sincerely hope you return to your happy everyday life!!
And to those considering nose surgery, please.... please!! Don’t get nose surgery, and love yourself just as you are!! ♥
