[Main text] From the end of 2012 to early 2014.. I went through more than a year of emotional stress because of my nose and lay on the operating table 3 times, so I was completely sick of noses and didn’t think about revision surgery for 10 years. But after 10 years passed, my nose dried out unbelievably.. like a tree branch with all the moisture drained out.. The example photos are only that much; if sunlight hit it, the cartilage shape all showed, and all you could see in my nose was silicone.. lol I’m not uploading worse photos to protect myself.. Especially the view from below was almost the worst. It changed so much that I hated anyone looking at me from below the most..... I still don’t know why it changed this much.. They said it was because my skin was thin, but to this extent?..
Anyway, so I decided on revision surgery at the end of 2022, and from late 2022 to July 2023 I went to 18 consultations. At every clinic, I got straight to the point and checked ⭐️whether they had operated on cases like mine and whether the doctor’s surgical style would suit me (photo verification required)⭐️
I went to Goksaem Plastic Surgery and felt this was the place. The doctor was already famous for being good at reconstruction, and ⭐️especially because they are so good at making noses look plump⭐️ I thought it would suit me. Because what I needed right now was a plump nose!!!!!!! Also, if bigger side effects like contracture/indentation happened here, really.. it would be worse than not having surgery, so I wanted someone who would operate as safely as possible, and I liked that they were completely safety-focused.
The surgical result became exactly as plump as I wanted, and the aftercare was also very conservative. For 14 days, I visited the clinic every 2 days (7 times total), and every time the doctor personally checked the condition and dressed it. What left an impression was that instead of a splint, they used cotton and tape, and at every follow-up they removed it all and reinstalled(?) it. I had nasal packing in for about 10 days? There was a thin tube inside the cotton, so it wasn’t especially hard (if I could just end up with a normal nose, I could wear it for 30 days..) I also liked that they didn’t fix it as “nasal stitches on day N / splint on day N / ear stitches on day N” and instead the doctor decided based on the condition at each follow-up. For example, my ear skin was redder than expected, so the ear stitches were removed after 7 days, and my nose had so little skin laxity that it was barely closed, so they removed those as late as possible.
Oh, and during this surgery they slightly preserved the hump I had in my original nose. I hadn’t requested this beforehand; the doctor did it on their own. To make it look natural.... So from the side there is a ve~ry slight curve, and I really like it. People around me say it looks extremely natural because of this. I like it
Another thing is that the doctor is really honest. They said my nose could become thin again in 5 years because my skin is so thin.. They couldn’t say for sure, but said there’s a high possibility....... Well, that’s because of my skin........ At that time.. I guess I’ll need dermis.
[FAQ] Q. Ear shape deformation I don’t have any, and I wore molding for 3 weeks. Of course, because cartilage was removed, my ear did become thinner.. But it isn’t noticeable to the naked eye. The doctor told me to wear the molding day/night for 1 month, then night only for 1 month.. 2 months total, but I only wore it day/night for 3 weeks.. I shouldn’t have done that.... but I did... But at the 2-month follow-up, they looked and said at this level I didn’t need to wear it anymore.
Q. Does the doctor lack aesthetic sense? I think this depends on the case. There are definitely people who are dissatisfied.. But if you tell them the nose you want before surgery, they try to reflect it as much as possible, and they kept thinking until the very moment of the final closure. How do I know? The surgery took 4 and a half hours, but I woke up after 1 and a half hours, so I had surgery while chatting for 3 hours. It didn’t hurt and wasn’t scary~~~
[Final words] Even if others might not think “Wow, that’s a pretty nose!”, I’m satisfied because I achieved all the improvements I wanted.. But just because I had it done at Goksaem and am satisfied, I don’t think I can strongly recommend Goksaem to everyone!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone has a clinic that suits them!!!!!!! Because I had a very thin nose, I think Goksaem suited me especially well. And honestly, I was lucky too...
Since luck can’t be controlled.. I think finding the clinic that suits you is the most important thing.
