I’ve had 4 surgeries, including closed rhinoplasty, and I’m preparing for a 5th surgery. It’s not contracture, but because of a bad choice last time, my nose became shorter and upturned, so I’m looking into revision surgery...
First, I wanted a nose that looked somewhat natural but had a defined bridge, so I searched a lot and went for a consultation at that clinic. The hospital was clean and the consultant was so-so.
I went in for the consultation with the director, and they really were gentle and kind. They explained things very professionally, in detail, and in a way that was easy to understand.. There was no feeling that they were trying to finish quickly.
But in the end, I couldn’t even get a quote.
They said my nose had already been opened too many times, and even if I had surgery, my nose would really become lower, bulkier, and longer, and kept steering the conversation toward not having surgery, asking whether I could handle that. I said that, for now, seeing my nostrils was too stressful and I could handle it, so they held my nose with a cotton swab and showed me that it would look about like this. Then they touched my ear and said I didn’t have enough ear cartilage, so I got turned down again. They told me to visit a few more hospitals
I don’t know if they just don’t really take on difficult nose cases, or if my nose really can’t be done, so I’m going to go to more places
Being told kindly that it couldn’t be done made me tear up even more.. It was a consultation I came out of feeling really depressed....
