Hello everyone It’s been three months since my double jaw surgery + contouring 2 procedures (square jaw, chin)! I had surgery because of my underbite, long chin, and facial asymmetry, but now, three months later, I can live my daily life just like before surgery! haha At the two-month mark, I avoided chewy foods, but recently there was a buffet company dinner, so I ate steak and pork too. There’s nothing I can’t eat anymore! I can eat pork belly, lamb, beef, pork cutlet, walnuts, raw chestnuts, and almonds all of them. I don’t cut food up anymore and just eat normally now! But chewing speed has slowed a little because of orthodontic treatment. My mouth can open vertically enough for four fingers! Food getting stuck in the gum gaps has also improved as the swelling went down, compared to two months in. It still gets stuck a bit though. And the mouth-sounds exercise that didn’t work at the two-month mark is working well now because the swelling under my nose has gone down a little. So putting on lipstick is easier too! The lower-lip muscle on one side, which wasn’t moving down well before, has also recovered, so now it works fine! Time really does help. That said, when I touch one side of my jaw, there’s still a numb? anesthetized feeling there, but it doesn’t interfere with daily life! I feel like I’m still recovering. If I make an ‘oo’ mouth shape, the muscle under my chin from the T-osteotomy still bulges up, but the doctor said the dissolvable thread will dissolve after six months and it’ll look natural then, so I’m waiting calmly.
My allergic rhinitis is improving with nasal rinses and rhinitis spray, but there’s still a bit of a runny nose. Still, both nostrils are open, so it’s not uncomfortable when I sleep!
At the two-month mark, my uvula felt like it was touching the base of my tongue, but that feeling is gone now. It must have been worse because of the swelling. I can even use my tongue to rub my upper teeth now too. But because the swelling under my nose hasn’t fully gone down yet, when I keep my mouth closed, the muscles around my mouth look tense, so I keep my lips slightly open by about 2 mm. So I still haven’t taken a passport photo, and I don’t take photos with a blank expression! Instead, I like how I look when smiling, so I smile in every photo. Before, my upper jaw was long so a lot of my gums showed, but now they show at an appropriate level, which I like. My nose has gradually gone back to its original size. Even up to one month and two months, my nose definitely felt wider, but I guess that was from swelling in the nostrils. Now it just feels like my old nose again. Recently I even took some solo photobooth strip photos haha. The swelling still hasn’t gone down enough to give me that sharp jawline look, so I think it needs more time to subside, but it’s cute so I like it haha. Even when it rains, my bones don’t feel cold or painful. Double jaw surgery seems to have become much safer thanks to technological advances. My everyday life is back to normal with no discomfort, just like before surgery. Highly recommend if you’re considering it!
