I went for a revision rhinoplasty consultation at Apgujeong ㅇㅈ Plastic Surgery. I am planning to visit at least three places, and the reasons I went here first are:
1. It was one of the candidates even when I had my first surgery at ㅂㄹㅇ 10 years ago, and the fact that it is still run by a single director seemed somewhat trustworthy. 2. It also seems to be mentioned from time to time in the community as a revision surgery clinic. (But after skimming through all the reviews today, I felt uneasy because there seemed to be some people who looked like paid commenters;)
My nose was already crooked when it was done during the first surgery, and my nostrils are uneven. I was too lazy to do anything about it and just lived with it, but whether it is contracture or something else, my nostrils have gradually lifted compared with the beginning and are now very visible.
Maybe because it was a weekday, but the clinic felt empty. I consulted with the doctor for about 20 minutes, and the consultation fee was 10,000 won.
Since my first surgery used silicone and septal cartilage, I assumed the revision would obviously be done with costal cartilage, but they said they would use reused septal cartilage + ear cartilage. They said the contracture was not severe.
The surgical method was:
The space where the silicone goes in seems to be called the capsule. Since contracture has occurred, they will remove that first. They said they would insert the silicone straight to somewhat improve the uneven nostrils. Since the side profile itself is not bad, we decided to raise the height by only about 1 mm.
And for the biggest problem, the lifted nostrils, they said they would bring the columella downward so the nostrils are not very visible from the front.
They showed me while Photoshopping on a tablet.
I prefer a stable, natural-looking nose rather than a flashy nose, so if it turns out exactly like that I would be satisfied, but whether it will actually turn out that way is the question, honestly.. haha
Anyway, the consultation was not like, “We will do this for you!” It was more like, if I said what I wanted to improve, they explained that they would proceed with that part in this and that way. They were kind.
The consultant was also kind, but it felt like she was explaining things somewhat roughly. The nuance was like, “It will go as you discussed with the director~”
There is no separate anesthesiology specialist, there is CCTV, and they provide AS for 3 years, but since they only mentioned inflammation, I asked whether, aside from functional issues or side effects, they would also provide AS if the part I wanted improved did not improve, and they said they would.
So I asked, “If the shape I requested does not come out properly, that means you will redo it, right?” and they said, as long as it is not something like asking to bring the columella down and then later asking to put the columella back in, they will do it~ But in reviews, people say this clinic is 180 degrees different before and after, so I do not really trust that part ?
