Before and after after after Under-eye fat repositioning + fat grafting 2-month review
The two-month review is at the very bottom of this post. In case you are seeing this post for the first time, I included the whole process from the day of surgery to 2 months.
Surgery background: I was concerned that my under-eye area looked dark because of dark circles. So I tried under-eye filler too, but there wasn’t much effect. I went to about 3 hospitals, and the place where both the consultant and the doctor felt the most trustworthy was Objet Plastic Surgery. Since my under-eye area was rather hollow, I also had fat grafting done together. It was my first surgery in my life, so I had a lot of worries, but they seemed to have pride in their work and reassured me the most, so I chose them. One week before surgery, I got an injection to dissolve the filler. It just made my eyes tear up slightly.
Surgery process: They tell you the precautions before surgery. I stopped supplements and medications in advance and prepared. When I went to the hospital that day, they told me to put on a gown, I reviewed the precautions, and I filled out the surgical consent form. Before surgery, the doctor (Dr. Jang Wook) checked me one more time. Then they administered anesthesia and proceeded with the surgery. I woke up during the surgery and had a somewhat uncomfortable feeling. It wasn’t painful, but I did feel like they were continuously pressing firmly. It felt like waking up when you’re extremely sleepy.. Fortunately, they gave me more anesthesia.
Same day: I went home after surgery. I was a bit dazed because of the anesthesia, but I could walk and had no major problem going home. It didn’t particularly hurt, and it was just a little uncomfortable because I had tape on. I also went to the pharmacy and picked up my medication.
Days 3-4: The swelling was the worst, and although it didn’t hurt, tears flowed and after sleeping I had a lot of eye discharge. I removed the tape and washed my face with a wet towel. I took the medication every day and alternated between 2 eye drops, putting them in 4 times a day. Also, the fat-grafted area had a lot of bruising and hurt when pressed.
1 week: The swelling went down, but it was still noticeable. I think it’s because I also had fat grafting done. The tearing in my left eye stopped, but my right eye kept tearing. Daily life was possible, but some swelling remained.
2 weeks: The major swelling had all gone down, and I felt about 85% back to my original face. My right eye was still tearing, but it had decreased a lot. When I closed and opened my eye, I still felt like something was there. There were still bruise marks on my abdomen where the fat was harvested.
1 month: The discomfort decreased a lot. My family says it seems like about 3-5% swelling still remains. Tearing from the right side also decreased a lot. However, tears still pool slightly. I consulted with the director, and he said it would get better as time passes. The bruising on my abdomen where the fat was harvested was 90-95% gone. Aside from slight tear pooling on the right side, I’m satisfied so far. I’m not good at taking photos, but when I look in the mirror in real life, the darkness has decreased a lot. I was told the fat may go down more.
1 month and 3 weeks: Now the tearing has stopped. I saw the director again and had additional grafting with the fat that had been frozen. In my case, I had under-eye fat repositioning + fat grafting together because I lacked fat under my eyes, so after surgery it was necessary to put fat back into a slightly hollow area. The first graft was okay, but the right side was slightly hollow, so they added a lot more there. After anesthetizing the eye-area portion, they injected the fat, and it was all done within 10 minutes. There was no pain; there wasn’t a big bruise, but a yellow bruise lasted about 5-7 days.
2 months: These are photos taken just today. Now there is almost no bruising, and all the swelling is gone. Filling the definitely hollow under-eye area made me look brighter and a little younger. I also gained a lot of confidence. When I smile, the aegyo-sal? also shows a little better. They said the surgery has nothing to do with aegyo-sal, but I think maybe after organizing the under-eye area and doing fat grafting, the part that wasn’t visible before became more visible. I think people with dark circles more severe than mine will definitely see a clear effect.
