Sorry that this post is all over the place,, I’ll put a summary at the very bottom, so if you’re busy you can just read that.
First off, I’m a country bumpkin living in Gyeongsang-do. I was too lazy to even sign up for this, so I almost didn’t write it, but I’m posting it anyway in hopes it helps even a little..
I’ve worn glasses for 14 years, and because my eyes are small, my friends joke that I should open my eyes wider, and my army seniors joke that I look like Lee Jae-myung when I squint. I’ve been living with it, ears shut, thinking it was part of my charm, but anyway, after discharge I’m planning to get LASIK or LASEK too, and when I take my glasses off, my eyes are insanely small. So I started looking into eyelid correction, but honestly? Putting a knife to my face freaked me the hell out. Still, I wanted to change. I wanted male eyelid correction, but I honestly thought I’d regret it if I went to Daegu or Busan, so I looked into Gangnam. All the SRT trains were sold out, so I barely made it up to Seoul by bus for 3 hoursㅜㅜ I booked four consultations at 11:00, 12:00, 13:45, and 16:00 and went. I woke up at 6, debated 320 times whether to go back to sleep, then just got dressed and headed up without even eating breakfast. It was my first time ever at a plastic surgery clinic, so I was really scared, but I went in with the mindset of just getting consultations. Anyway, I’ll start the consultation review now.
The first place I went to was Apgujeong T P O S - Dr. C H J I went at 11, so there was nobody there except me, and after about 3 minutes they told me to come in. The coordinator’s eyes were so pretty that I kept looking at them while talking. But I’m also INFP, so I’m bad at talking, so I said I wanted bigger eyes and was thinking about eyelid correction, and they recommended incision eyelid correction + epicanthoplasty. Then they asked when I might be able to have surgery if I did it, and I thought, this is Seoul, where even if you open your eyes someone might steal your nose, right? So I said I’d be discharged next week, so I probably can’t do it right away. Then they wrote on the consultation form that I’d be discharged next week, and asked, “Ah, you’re a soldier? Can you keep your hair long?” We had some back-and-forth like that, then I talked with the doctor. He read what was written on the paper and said, “Ah, congratulations on your discharge,” and the small talk between the coordinator and the doctor was funny. He said he was confident it wasn’t ptosis, but that I seemed to be opening my eyes with my forehead, so he’d do incision eyelid correction + epicanthoplasty.
But I thought male eyelid correction would be around 1.3 million won, but they quoted 2.6 million, and with reviews and other things, it would be 1.86 million if I booked today,, it was making my head spin. I said I hadn’t been discharged yet, so I’d think about it a bit more, and then they asked if this was my first consultation, like my very first consultation in life. When I said yes, they summarized it on their business card and said they’d like me to call within today. They weren’t forcing a deposit, but they said it would be nice to book. Anyway, I had a good impression.
The second place was in Sinsa-dong, N S H Ah, I was careless and forgot to specify a doctor here, so they assigned Dr. G D H,,, I talked with the coordinator and said I wanted bigger eyes. As expected, they talked about epicanthoplasty + incision eyelid correction. Then they told me to wait and said they’d bring the doctor over, and I ended up waiting alone for about 15 minutes,,, (I did arrive early, to be fair,,) Looks like they were busy with something when they came over. Honestly, I wasn’t happy with the consultation. They didn’t feel especially kind, and they seemed busy. They also said that since I open my eyes with my forehead, it would be good to get forehead Botox too. But I was already losing interest in doing it here, so I just listened vaguely and left. Price around 2.5 million -> 1.83 million with review + same-day booking
The third place was back in Apgujeong, Y Y T - Dr. H G W I’d actually watched this place the most on YouTube, so I already felt really familiar with them. The coordinator was funny here too, asking if I’d come from far away in the countryside lol. They said it must’ve been hard, and apologized that since they’d had their forehead done not long ago, it might be uncomfortable to look at. They were beautiful, anyway. The doctor was seriously cool, and said honestly epicanthoplasty wouldn’t make a huge difference for my eyes, so it would be better to just do incision eyelid correction. There was a consultation fee of 10,000 won here, so I was trying to get my money’s worth with questions, but I regret not being able to ask more. The coordinator came back and said there’s no pressure to pay a deposit here. Why? Because a lot of men come for eye surgery anyway, and they’re busy, so they only take people who really want it. They don’t have any special discounts right now, so there’s no price advantage. But they explained clearly that the schedule is tight right now. Here it was 2.2 million.. but if I booked now, they’d take off the VAT,,,
So I thought it over. I mean, they’re all around 2 million, right? If I went to the last place anyway, they’d probably quote 2 million too. If I’m going to do it, I figured it’s less likely I’ll regret it if I go with the place my heart is set on. So after canceling the consultation at the last hospital, I just went sightseeing in Seoul and came home. Seoul is always thrilling after all.
