I had surgery with Allergan 7 years ago, and now I have capsular contracture. The hospital where I had my first surgery just dodged responsibility, saying it had been over 5 years so they couldn't offer any aftercare lol When I made a scene, they said that if that's the case, they'd redo it after only charging me for the implant cost, but by then I no longer wanted to get it done there. Why should I go to a hospital that treats patients like that...? So I went back to square one, did my own research, and looked for hospitals. Hospitals with a lot of experience and a strong track record in revision surgery -> I went for consultations at MD and GLAM
MD Consultation with the director -> consultation with the surgeon -> consultation with the director in that order They looked at the ultrasound and said it was indeed contracture I expected it, but when it was confirmed at the hospital, I still couldn't keep a straight face. The surgeon calmly said that removal or replacement would solve it. For replacement, Motiva was recommended They said the capsule was a bit thick, so a full removal would be necessary, and if I wanted, I could be admitted on the day of surgery They also personally handle the follow-up, and the aftercare seems good, even lifelong The director was kind, and the surgeon was not bad either, quite kind Instead of CCTV recording, they said they'd film the beginning and middle of the surgery on an iPad and show it to me in the recovery room before deleting it
GLAM Here too, the order was consultation with the director -> consultation with the surgeon -> consultation with the director Contracture was diagnosed after ultrasound They said it would be better to remove the capsule entirely If I replaced it, they recommended Motiva, but it wasn't forced I had already felt a bit deflated at MD, so after being given the contracture verdict there, I came out feeling resigned, and the director comforted me I suddenly started venting about what had happened... (I probably overdid it because the director was so good at listening) The director listened to me and said, yes, that must have been really hard on you, don't worry, if you don't even want to think about surgery again next time, removal is enough, and since you're still young, if you can't give up on your breasts, replacement is also possible. They also guarantee lifetime aftercare here And then they showed me photos of contracture cases like mine, which comforted me again... There were many cases worse than mine, but the before-and-after results for revision surgery were hopeful The surgeon consultation was blunt and just the kind who gives the diagnosis directly The rest of the consultation felt like it was led by the director When I asked, they said I could be admitted if I wanted, but there would be an extra 100,000 won charge And they said they do full CCTV recording
I left after these consultations, but I still haven't decided between removal and replacement, so I couldn't make a reservation
And after this revision-surgery consultation, what I kept thinking was: I really wish I could go back to before I ever had surgery... lol It's already done and the contracture has happened, so there's nothing I can do, but if I had known I'd end up needing revision surgery for contracture, I would have researched hospitals properly and chosen more carefully from the start... (I only recently found out about the Allergan issue too. At first I didn't even remember that mine was Allergan.. total chaos) But even if I regret it, my chest is ruined the same either way Nothing changes... so I'm just trying to think about what to do from here So everyone, when you get breast surgery, don't just go anywhere.. If you do, you'll end up like me, doing all this hospital research again 7 years later and going through hell
