Before-before and after-after. I had my first surgery in 2007 with silicone and ear cartilage, and starting in 2013, I developed signs of inflammation on the bridge of my nose, so I repeatedly took antibiotics as it swelled and went down. In 2014, I removed the silicone, leaving only the ear cartilage in the nasal ala.
I lived with my low nose as a complex after that, and because I was afraid inflammation might occur again, I couldn’t even consider revision surgery. Then I learned that using donated dermis instead of silicone has an extremely low chance of inflammation, so while researching online, I happened to watch YouTube. I saw a video of someone’s revision surgery, and it turned out so well that I booked consultations at three places, including that hospital.
The reason I decided on this place was that the director specializes in revision surgery, the autologous costal cartilage harvesting time was fast, and although he was confident, he didn’t pressure me too much and didn’t recommend unnecessary additional procedures either (alar correction, etc.).
So I proceeded with revision surgery using donated dermis and autologous costal cartilage. While waiting before the surgery started, I had to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour past the scheduled surgery time, so I was a bit annoyed
The surgery went well, and when I went for dressing, the director checked everything carefully. After the splint was removed, the nasal tip was red, and they explained that this can happen when the nasal tip is raised high. I worried a lot because of that, but as time passed, the redness disappeared too.
At first it was very high, so I regretted whether I had been too greedy, but over time it gradually became more natural while still having a certain amount of height, so I’m satisfied. I regret not having the surgery earlier; the time I spent worrying about it feels like such a waste.
Since there is definitely just one head director, they seemed to check thoroughly even after surgery and understood the patient’s feelings well, which was nice. The consultant was also sensible and always treated me kindly, so I’m very satisfied.
