I live outside Seoul, but I wanted implant-free rhinoplasty, so I made a big decision and went to Seoul for the surgery. It’s now been one month!
I did a lot of online research, but for in-person consultations I only went to two places? I think I just went for it.. I’m satisfied, but thinking about it now, it was honestly so reckless lol
After a month, it feels like my nose is slowly settling into place..? There will probably still be swelling and some nasal tip drooping until 6 months, but I’m satisfied thinking it’ll be almost similar to how it looks now haha Before, contour shading on the nasal tip itself was impossible, but now when I shade the tip, it makes the nasal tip look slimmer and I love it so much..!^^ I was wondering if there was anything worth writing, so I’m going to summarize the pros and cons I’ve felt up to one month after rhinoplasty
- Pros
1. Aesthetics This is obvious, and it was the thing that made up 95% of the reason I got rhinoplasty.. My natural nose was really ugly, so I’m aesthetically satisfied, but people who already have a pretty nose should seriously never get rhinoplasty.. If you get it for no reason and it ends up looking stranger than your old nose, or there isn’t much difference compared with the money, time, and effort spent, I feel like the reality check would hit so hard
2. Nasal congestion This is a pro for me because I also had rhinitis surgery at the same time! It’s only been one month, so breathing through my nose still isn’t completely comfortable, but before, I would sometimes wake up while sleeping because I felt like I couldn’t breathe, and these days that’s gone! Instead, I do nasal irrigation often
- Cons (excluding the endurance period up to the first week after rhinoplasty)
1. Foreign-body sensation It’s fine when I’m still, but when I smile, the foreign-body sensation is really severe. I don’t know if it’s because it hasn’t fully settled yet, or when it’ll start feeling like my own nose.. I’m a bit used to it now, so the foreign-body sensation is less noticeable, but when I smile, it still feels like something hard gets stuck, thunk! between the nasal tip and the philtrum
2. Having to constantly be careful.. If I accidentally hit my nasal tip, I keep worrying about it and end up touching it, and even when washing my face or doing makeup, I have to handle my nose very, very carefully like it’s something sacred.. I can’t sleep face down, and even sleeping on my side makes me worry. Even when I’m lying down using my phone, I’m anxious I might drop it Especially, it’s not just me; people around me also sometimes accidentally hit my nasal tip. It wasn’t hit hard, so it was okay, but it seriously makes the atmosphere suddenly awkward, and it’s not something that works just because I’m the only one being careful, so it bothers me even more.. I can’t pick my nose either, and I have to gently and carefully use cotton swabs. I can’t just touch my nose carelessly like before.. This is actually a surprisingly big downside
3. Aesthetic dissatisfaction For now, I’m just satisfied, so I don’t think I’ll get revision surgery for this reason or anything, but when someone around me said my nose looked crooked, without realizing it, I kept touching it as if trying to correct the crookedness.. And because the nasal tip is raised sharply, I feel like it looks pretty obvious that I had surgery, so that bothers me.. I definitely couldn’t lie and say I didn’t get my nose done haha...
These are about the pros and cons I felt, and there could be many other factors too, so unless your nose is truly a major complex, absolutely don’t get rhinoplasty, and choose carefully!
