These days most places take a CT, but there still seem to be quite a few that don’t, so I’m writing this..
Seriously, until you get a CT, you can never know what the inside of your nose looks like.. They said my nasal septum is very small and deviated, and even though it would be my first surgery, it’s apparently unusable.
When I went around to consultations at hospitals that didn’t take a CT, they casually said, ‘We’ll use the septal cartilage to raise the nasal tip~’
But when I went to a hospital that takes CT scans, they said, ‘Your nasal septum is extremely small and deviated. If it’s used incorrectly, your nose could collapse. It’s to the point where donor costal cartilage would be needed.’
After hearing that, I hated the idea of using something taken from a cadaver so much that I basically half gave up on rhinoplasty.
If I had done it at a hospital that doesn’t take CT scans, they would only have found out my septum was small after opening my nose, so they might have used donor costal cartilage however they wanted or removed septal cartilage under strain, right.. Looking at other people’s reviews, I heard there are many cases where they do procedures during surgery that weren’t discussed in the consultation and only notify the patient afterward.
For real, rule out places that don’t take a CT.
